Clips and Comments on the UFOlogy of Wilhelm Reich, as compiled by Riley Crabb, originally included in the Journal of Borderland Research (November – December 1979, Vol XXXV, No. 6). This article is included here as part of a “Round Robin” classic series, presenting random pulls from the archives and the best offerings of the BSRA from 1945 into the 1970s!

Does the Planet Earth Harbor Spacemen?

Borderland Scientist Dr. Wilhelm Reich posted that question in Chap. I of his 1957 book, “Contact With Space”:

On March 20, 1956, 10 p.m. a thought of a very remote possibility entered my mind, which, I fear, will never leave me again: Am I a Spaceman? Do I belong to a new race on earth, bred by men from outer space in embraces with earth women? Are my children offspring of the first interplanetary race?

Has the melting pot of interplanetary society already been created on our planet, as the melting pot of all earth nations was established in the U.S.A. 190 years ago? Or does this thought relate to things to come in the future? I request my right and privilege to have such thoughts and to ask such questions without being threatened to be jailed by any administrative agency of society.

[RHC: Dr. Reich was not the first man to harbor such radical ideas; nor was he the first to be jailed and executed for publishing them abroad. The Wardens of this prison of the solar system look with extreme prejudice on anyone who even suggests that it is possible to escape, or that there are advanced, loving beings who are ready, willing and able to help us to rehabilitate ourselves and get the hell off the earth!]

Many matters of my existence have, with this question, fallen quickly into place, having been uncertainties only four days ago; the temptation to answer the above question in the positive is irresistible. However, I shall postpone final decision until the facts have spoken. In the meantime I shall proceed on the assumption: It is not beyond actual possibilities that men from outer space have landed (or will in the future land) on earth and have begun to breed here for whatever reason they may have had.

This idea is not as foreign to the human race as it may appear on first encounter. In 1951, I believe, Hollywood introduced a new film with the title “The Day the Earth Stood Still“. In this film a spaceship landed on earth; a spaceman, looking much the same as an ordinary, but very intelligent earthman, met with earth people. He fell in love with an earthwoman, made friends with her little boy. He knew mathematics far better than the mathematical genius of the earth century. The earth people got panicky since he was able to stop all earthly traffic by pressing a button. In the end the earthmen did to him what they always do in such cases; they had their military hunt him and shoot him down in the street. He was brought to his spaceship by a robot; a new type of medicine, unknown on earth, revived him.

The film was intended to prepare the population for extraordinary events yet to come. It had the right, and not the wrong, ideas about the functioning of cosmic energy used in the propulsion of space-ships. It pictured the spaceman as being akin to earthmen, but different in his attitude to women, in his behavior with a small boy, etc.? It conceded that insoluble problems of mathematics were easily solved with his knowledge of the Life Energy. There was no doubt that the Life Energy was meant: Light went on in the space-ship when fingers moved across certain switches; lamination of vacuum tubes can actually be achieved by approaching strong bodily energy fields.

A BIT OF REICH’S OWN STORY

All through the film show I had the distinct impression that it was a bit of my story which was depicted there; even the actor’s expression and looks reminded me and others of myself as I had appeared 15 to 20 years ago.

I did not at that time have the thought that I could actually be a spaceman’s offspring. Without my intention somehow a ball of history started rolling, putting me in the center of space problems: I made actual contact by way of the cloudbuster with luminous objects in the sky May 12, 1954, between 9:40 and 10:45 p.m. (And then he lists the evening planets for 1954.)

During this hour men on earth saw for the first time in the history of man and his science two “Stars” to the west fade out several times when cosmic energy was drawn from them. The shock of this experience was great enough not to repeat such action until Oct. 10th, 1954. The reason for the hesitation was obviously the risk to-precipitate an interplanetary war by such experimentation. The event was kept secret.

I am a modest, orderly, rational man. I tend to understate my stature rather than to state my full potential as a scientist. I hate mystical irrationalism [Well, your editor hopes Dr. Reich wont mind this mystical irrationality reproducing part of his banned book in this Journal! -RHC]; but I believe that even in the most flagrant irrationality there must be some rational truth; there is nothing in the world of men that is not true somehow, somewhere, even if distorted to the utmost; this I used to tell my students. However, I never permitted irresponsible mystification of such serious affairs as interplanetary contact to confuse our grave task.

The Ruppelt report (“The Report On Unidentified Flying Objects”) on UFO’s clearly reveals the helplessness of mechanistic method in coming to grips with the problems posed by the spacemen. The cosmic orgone energy which these living beings are using in their technology is beyond the grasp of mechanistic science since cosmic laws of functioning are not mechanical, but what I term functional. Even though the mathematics necessary to formulate these problems and make them technologically usable, cannot use any of the old mechanistic methods of thought to cope with the functional OR facts. (See Orgone Energy Bulletin, 19501953.)

The helplessness of mechanistic thinking appears in the tragic shortcoming of our fastest jet fighter planes to make and hold contact with UFOs. Being unavoidably outdistanced is not a flattering situation for military pride. The conclusion seems to be correct: Mechanistic methods of locomotion must be counted out in coping with the spaceship problem. Neither propeller or jet will or can ever get us into space beyond.

Easy contact was made on that fateful day with what obviously turned out to be a heretofore unknown type of UFO. I had hesitated for weeks to turn my cloudbuster pipes toward a ‘star”, as if I had known that some of the blinking lights hanging in the sky were not planets or fixed stars but SPACE machines. With the fading out of the two “stars” the cloudbuster had suddenly changed to a SPACEGUN. From then onward, too, our approach to the problem of space became positive, affirmative, confident in using our carefully screened data.

When I saw the “Star” to the west fade out four times in succession, what had been left of the old world of human knowledge after the discovery of the OR energy 1936-1940 humbled beyond retrieve. From now on everything, anything was possible. Nothing could any longer be declared “impossible”.

There was only one conclusion: The thing we had drawn from was not a star.

It was something else, a UFO.

* * *

So, Dr. Reich suggested the formation of “a Planetary Professional Citizens Committee with sufficient work democratic organizational and statutory power to take over the responsibility for the direction of the Social Reconstruction of the Planet Earth and of the Ea operations of the future”, a work which was already underway with the organizations and functioning of the United Nations. Now, 22 years later, the formation of a UFO research committee is contemplated, which can make an “end run” around the Silence Policy on UFOs of the individual nations.

Dr. Reich’s plea to be allowed to think unthinkable thoughts about Flying Saucers and the possibility of his being a spaceman himself received an immediate and vindictive response from the U.S. government. His books were piled on the beach in Maine and burned. He was not only jailed but was suddenly dead in a U.S. prison.

Article by John R. Elsom, with comments from Riley Crabb, originally included in the Journal of Borderland Sciences (September – October 1970, Vol. XXVI, No. 5) in excerpt from “Lightning Over The Treasury Building (Or, An expose of our banking and currency)”: This article is included here as part of a “Round Robin” classic series, presenting random pulls from the archives and the best offerings of the BSRA from 1945 into the 1970s!

Soon after your BSRA Director (Riley Crabb) and Mrs. Crabb arrived on the mainland from Hawaii in 1957, he went to work in the Industrial Relations Office of the Marine Corps Supply Center in Bars tow, California A few miles to the northeast in the colorful Calico mountains was the ghost town of Calico, site of several prosperous silver mines in the late Nineteenth Century. Like any other eager tourists, we visited the place several times while living and working in Barstow, on the high desert, but we could never get a satisfactory answer from anyone as to why the mines closed down; for apparently plenty of silver is still there in the ground for the taking. Several years later, in reading Chapter VII of John Elsom’s book, we found the answer and here it is. Hope you enjoy it!

Silver Demonetized. During the period in which the bankers, by the powers given them by the National Banking Act of 1.863, were collapsing the currency of the Nation from $54.46 per capita down to $14.60, they were scheming another method whereby the people could be further impoverished and the bankers’ control strengthened.

In 1816, in England, the Rothschilds had succeeded in having silver demonetized as a base upon which currency could be issued. Gold was made the only base for the issuance of paper money. They and their stooges in America decided, in 1872, to have silver demonetized in the United States. This was desirable to the Rothschilds because England had very little silver, but much gold, while America had much silver and very little gold. The bankers on both sides of the Atlantic knew that so long as currency was based on silver in America they could not obtain absolute control of the money system in this Nation. [And silver money does not pay interest to the bankers! RHC.]

They laid their plans in a most subtle manner. They sent paid emissaries to America with vast amounts of money with which to bribe the right persons in Congress. In 1873 a harmless looking Bill, entitled “A Bill to Reform Coinage and Mint Laws” was introduced. It was a voluminous document. Much verbiage concealed the meaning of its contents. The title itself, as intended, was most misleading.

The Bill was sponsored by Senator John Sherman, who — you will remember — figured in a banker’s letter in the preceding chapter, and by Congressman Samuel Hooper, According to the Congressional Record, Senator Sherman said:

“I rise for the purpose of moving the Senate to proceed to the consideration of the Mint Bill. I. will state that this Bill will probably not consume any more time than it takes to read it. It passed the Senate two years ago, after a full debate. It was taken up in the present House and passed there. It is a matter of vital interest to the government, and I am informed it should pass promptly.”

After a short debate, in which Sherman assured the Representatives that the Bill only affected the manner in which silver should be coined in the government mint, it was passed without a dissenting vote. It was not until three years later that the full import of the bill was realized. It proved to be a camouflaged bill to demonetize silver so that the currency in the Nation could be further contracted — and the bankers gain more complete control of our money system. It was, perhaps, the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on Americans, the far reaching results of which we will consider shortly.

General Grant, who, as President, signed the Bill, stated, after the fraud had been discovered, that he had signed the document without reading it on the representation that it was merely a bill to reform coinage and mint laws, and had no intimation that it demonetized silver. According to the Congressional Record, none but the members of the Committee which introduced the Bill understood its meaning.

To what power, or influence, was the Committee subjected that those composing it should become traitors to the high office they held and to the people whom they represented?

Ernest Seyd — a supposed authority on the coining of money, and a representative of the Bank of England — was sent by that Bank (to America) in the winter of 1872-73, with 100,000 pounds sterling in his pocket. He had the authority to draw on the Bank for as much more as was required to accomplish the Bank’s objective. He was invited to sit with the Committee and to offer his assistance in the drafting of the Bill “To Reform Coinage and Mint Laws”.

According to his own statement, made to his friend, Mr. Frederick A. Luckenbach, of Denver, Colorado — who under oath has given us the story — he said: “I saw the Committee of the House and Senate and paid the money and stayed in America until I knew the measure was safe.”

Congressman Samuel Hooper, when introducing the Bill in the House on April 9, 1872, stated: “Mr. Ernest Seyd, of London, a distinguished writer, who has given great attention to the subject of mints and coinage, after examining the first draft of the Bill, furnished many valuable suggestions which have been incorporated in the Bill.” (Congressional Globe, April 9, 1872.)

Thus we see that this representative of Rothschild’s Bank -the Bank of England — Mr. Ernest Seyd, did not only supply the cash motive for this Nation’s representatives to sell the Nation down the river, but he also furnished a liberal portion of craftiness while the Bill was being drafted. To even the casual observer it is quite obvious that the banking institutions of America are but subsidiary branches of the notorious Bank of England and that the combined unscrupulous, unpatriotic and undemocratic banking fraternity, operating as they do — outside and above the law — are masters of industry, trade and commerce, and lords of the universe.

SATAN’S FALLEN ANGELS AT WORK

When the people’s representatives got around to reading the enacted Bill to Reform Coinage and Mint Laws, they found that the “Crime of 1873″ had been committed. Silver had been demonetized in America — and with what tragic results! It was not until 1878 that the bankers had the nerve to show their hand by beginning to exercise their privileges under the Act — the destruction of money — but when they began, they prosecuted their maniacal job with Satanic zeal.

In 1878 the per capita currency in circulation was withdrawn and destroyed from $14.60 down to $11.23. This resulted in 10,478 business failures and multitudinous property foreclosures. In 1879 the issuance of coin by Congress brought the circulating medium up to $12.65, which reduced failures from the preceding year to 6,658. But in 1882 the hideous program of bringing the Nation to its knees so it could be delivered into the hands of the money creating, interest-taking, mortgage-foreclosing Shylocks was renewed and prosecuted with fiendish determination and skill.

During the next five years (1882-1887), the per capita money in circulation was reduced from a meagre $12.65 to $6.67. During the 14 years in which money was being destroyed under the Bill “To Reform Coinage and Mint Laws”, (1878-1892), there were no fewer than 148,703 business failures in the Nation — an average of 9, 986 annually, with the resultant profits to the Bankers, through the acquiring of those properties, together with a proportionately greater number of farms and homes. [Now we can see how and why English "investments" in America had reached the staggering total of over $2* billion by World War II, picked up cheap by foreclosures and banker-created depressions since 1872. And all of these ill-gotten gains were blown away in the mortal struggle to save England from capture by the Germans. RHC.]

Although business was ham-strung by the shortage of money, high interest rates and high taxes, and although unemployment was general, with the wages of the few who worked extremely low and hours long, the avaricious money masters were not yet satisfied. Their object then was the same as now — the absolute control of the Nation, On March 11, 1893, the American Bankers Association issued its famous (or infamous) panic, circular of 1893. It was addressed to all bankers and read as follows:

“Dear Sir: The interest of the National Banks requires immediate financial legislation by Congress. Silver certificates and Treasury notes must be retired, and National Bank notes upon a gold basis made the only money. This will require the authorization of-new bonds in the’ amount of $500,000,000 to $1,000,000,000, as the basis of circulation. You will at once retire one-third of your circulation and call one-half your loans. Be careful to create, a money stringency among your, patrons– especially among influential business men. The life of the National Banks, as fixed and safe investments, depends upon immediate action as there is an increasing sentiment in favor of government legal tender notes and silver coinage.”

The command was obeyed immediately and implicitly. Loans were called. The ordered money stringency was created, and the “Panic of 1893″ was on The great Commoner and Statesman, William Jennings Bryan, fought desperately for the free coinage of silver at a ratio of sixteen ounces of silver to one of gold — but the people, under the influence of their bankers (who they foolishly did not suspect of treason), refused to be enlightened on the money racket. His was a voice “crying in the wilderness”, and he was crucified on a cross of gold. From Judge P.E. Gardner’s book, “Our Money System” — which contains a wealth of valuable information -I quote the following:

“The money trust knows no God but Mammon. It declares allegiance to no country. It cages not who are elected to office so long as it creates the money and regulates the value thereof.”

Adapted from a tape recording of a 35mm slide presentation by Bob Beck at The 1978 United States Psychotronic Association Conference in Atlanta, GA; originally appeared in the “Round Robin” of The Journal of Borderland Science, Volume XXXVI, No 1 through No 6, January-December 1980.

(Concluded from Part 4)

Okay, now a lot of this is resonance. What we don’t know is now much of this is being originated domestically? How much of it is a second or third order harmonic effect? And what the real and what the virtual parameters are actually engendering? But these are some of the Soviet frequencies.

I have a little paper here. If we can find a Xerox machine, we can paper you guys. But meanwhile, from the standard textbook of physics, if we look at the E wave as being standard propagation wave form — as being parallel with this screen — the B wave or H wave, the magnetic vector, is at right angles to this and has to accompany it.

WHY DID GOD DESIGN US THIS WAY?

When you strip off the E wave by shielding, by natural attenuation, you still have that H wave left; and that is the one against which you cannot shield. It goes right through you, everything else, and can trip certain neurons in your head. I don’t know why God designed us this way but here’s something else to worry about. 150 years ago it was smallpox, diphtheria and Indians. I guess some of you turkeys are as old as I am and remember when we were trying to dig fallout shelters in our backyards. It’s always something, but this is the one that appears to be the most insidious. This report is from a previously classified document done by Dr. Wartz and Dr. Erkins, of Garret Air Research. for the Central Intelligence Agency showing the “windows” that could be the stimulus for ESP, paranormal, Russian Psychotronic research. Does that look familiar? If you move that down about two Hertz, you ain’t got a psychic, you got an epileptic. Some of the propagation paths of the various nodes. The whole earth Ionosphere cavity rings like a bell. At certain frequencies you can put a little energy in here and under the same conditions get the same amount, or even a little more out, somewhere else.

Tesla was right. A little Soviet love letter, U.S. Patent, Nov. 20, 1973, Apparatus For the Treatment of Neuropsychic and Somatic Diseases with Heat, Light, Sound and Electromagnetic Radiation — a trial balloon to see how much we knew about what they were doing. It’s #3773049, and among all these words they hid their little gift, which you’ll come across when you read the whole patent. We have developed frequency counters by taking standard units and pulling a times-one hundred multiplier so we could see frequencies down to a hundredth of one Hertz. We couldn’t find anything that we could carry. The big Hewlett-Packard weighs — what? — 20 pounds, plus a cost of $13,000. So we had to build the instrumentations systems for mapping these things almost from scratch. We published the circuit diagrams for ail of these things except the psycho-active frequencies and apparatus. We were requested to delete this by a chap who visited us and said, “You’d better take the apparatus apart and put one piece of it one place and one in another and go back and burn the paper work you have on it because terrorist groups could build a little box like this and paralyze us.”

DOWN TO THE HUNDREDTH DECIMAL

[Riley Crabb: "So, what's new about registering human molecular vibrations down to the hundredth decimal place? Dr. Albert Abrams, grandfather of Radionics, was doing it at his clinic in San Francisco in the 1920s! Recently, one of the later models of the Abrams Oscilloclast was brought to our headquarters here in Vista California. On the front of it was a row of Ten Buttons. Each one of them represented a group of diseases whose vibratory rate is in the 43 megacycle range. That's below Channel 2 on your TV set, 54 megacycles. and the wavelength is about 71/2 meters, crest to crest." (Note these vibratory rates are for informational purposes only; No Healing or Beneficial Effect please!]

[The full listing of the rates and description and schematics of the Abrams Oscilloclast are in BSRF No 33C, "The Electronic Reactions of Dr Abrams".]

When Riley Crabb read these rates off to a visiting scientist here a couple of years ago, he suggested that Abrams had been working with the higher harmonic of the disease, and that the actual base rate was much lower on the scale of vibration. Now I suspect that he was engaged in highly secret ELF wave research, an area of vibrations unknown and unsuspected at the time Abrams was developing the basis for Radionics or Psychotronics or Bioenergetics, as the Russians call it.

ELF WAVE COUNTER MEASURES

Now what’s happening about this? Well, Dr. Ludwig of Germany developed these little devices. Andy smuggled a couple of these into Los Angeles last October (Dr. L.O. Anderson, Anderson Research Foundation, 2942 Francis Ave., Los Angeles, Cal. 90005, phone (213) 387-9164] and I did an engineering analysis on them. I’m going to take the tape out of the cassette for a second and I’m going to put this on play and activate this on play and we’re going to activate this little box. It only has a range of about a meter. Just enough to envelop the head and vital organs if one wears it on the upper part of the body.

(He turns the Ludwig Vitasette on and the audience hears the “Woodpecker” rat-a-tat-tat.)

THE LUDWIG RELAXATION OSCILLATOR (OR MAGNETIC PACER)

Sound familiar? Sound like something we’ve heard from Russia? Now, I’m going to change its frequency a little bit (and the rat-a-tat speeds up). We understand that about 900 of these have been built, and some of them are in the hands of people who have to wear them, in case of a hit. What they are basically is a little relaxation oscillator, driving a coil around a Numetal core. The Numetal has a permeability of over 3000. As the B field collapses, it puts out a tremendous spike of magnetic H wave energy which, for this demonstration, we just picked up on the tape head of this recorder; because the tape head, as you know, will respond to magnetic signals that are on the ferrite in the tape.

“What is the device for?”

That device is worn by people who want a beneficial frequency close to them. Fortunately, we live in a universe that works by the Inverse Square Law. If you don’t like the Rock band that’s putting out 2000 watts of audio on the stage, you can take a $2 transistor radio, tune it to another radio station, hold it up against your ear and it will drown out the Rock band. Okay? A field of beneficial frequencies which is close to you will override the effect of the firing or desynchronization of the neurons that can be entrained by a field that, in this case, is 7000 miles away. All right? Apparently — certain neurons in the cerebral cortex act as frequency modulating discriminators. Any of you guys who have played around with radio know that you have a crystal set, and you hear several stations simultaneously, you get a garble. They are all overlapped. You can’t sort ‘em out; but the frequency modulation discriminator will latch onto the highest amplitude signal in the environment, override the others, and you’ll hear that. If you are listening to Police Radio and a loud station comes in, overriding the other, you’ll get one or the other. There’s very little crosstalk.

So what this thing does basically is that it puts out a little magnetic H wave field with a spike wave which we don’t like. We like to work with a different wave form that I don’t want to talk about. But this thing is apparently mildly psychoactive, but not nearly as psychoactive as the ones they used for the tests in Los Angeles, the ones at the United Nations, and Ossining, New York.

(An audience member asks:) “Is that spike wave more effective than a sine or square?”

It should be because Delta E over Delta C means that you are inducing stronger current in the conductor nearby, and there are some other side effects which we don’t like. It’s rather abrasive. The other device that’s in the picture (and hopefully I brought it) is disguised as a wee pocket flashlight — and it actually works! It has a little nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery. It is frequency programmable on the back.

“So what you are saying is that the West Germans are aware of this (ELF wave attacks from Russia) and are selling these?” (asked the same person)

They are not selling them, exactly, they are kind of giving them away to people that have a need for them and the answer to your question is. Yes. Now, what I’d like to point out to you is that in this very narrow frequency spectrum corresponding to the Alpha-Theta border of brain waves, you can change the excitation frequency by a fraction of a Hertz, and have an entirely different reaction. Now this was a big surprise. This is the thing that was not anticipated any more than the little germs were before Von Leeuwenhoek and Pasteur.

YOU ARE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO COHERENT FREQUENCIES

One reason I feel that this effect has been missed by other researchers who were working with gross frequency inputs is that they were not defining their frequencies down to a hundredth of a Hertz. Now there’s a tremendous amount of a supportive evidence in the neuro-physiological literature that certain molecules in our brain, with dielectric constants of over 140,000 and other inductive capacitor parameters, act as longchain, semi-liquid crystal dipoles that are extremely sensitive to coherent frequencies. Now coherent means to find out that they are a little bit further than most of the researchers have investigated. Where I think I have done original work is in building systems that can go out to that second, third and fourth decimal place, taking them to the coffee shop, testing them on my own head and seeing what they do empirically, and kind of sounding the alarm on what we are now experiencing. “Again, some of the Soviet frequencies. We’ll take a break and see if we can get some of these in real time on the radio right now.

(Apparently he gets a signal from the program director.)

Oh, I guess our vote has been cancelled.

Okay, there are a couple of more goodies on here but I’m going to thank you fellows, I’m going to conclude it at this and take a break. If there are any questions we’ll handle them later. Thank you for listening.

(A burst of applause ends the tape.)

CLIPS, QUOTES & COMMENTS

REINTRODUCING THE NATURAL ELF FIELD WITH A MAGNETIC PACER

The environment of the planet has become increasingly filled with man-nade electromagnetic waves in the last few decades. Most of the signals and power levels of the waves serve useful purposes for mankind and other living systems. Unfortunately, there also has been an increase in the power levels and numbers of signals which produce significant interference to the lawful and needed cononinications and navigational systems and the electronic products upon which our civilization has become so dependent. Many of the electronic products, such as computers and medical instrumentation systems, are extremely sensitive devices; yet compared to the delicate complex electric and chemical systems in human and animal brain and cardiac systems, these electronic products are relatively unresponsive. Electronic components of the central nervous system govern many behaviorlstic patterns in living systems.

THE ELF POLLUTION’S BIOLOGICAL EFFECT

The combination of high intensity ELF (Extreme Low Frequency) magnetic signals from both the U.S. and U.S.S.R. reported by the Planetary Association for Clean Energy over the last few issues of their “Newsletter”, may be significant enough to produce effects on humans as well as other living systems. Such effects, when they exist, would not normally be perceived by the individuals affected because the electrical activity of the central- nervous system would be altered.

Since human perception is a direct result of the chemical and electrical activity of the brain, one would not normally be able to determine whether perception has been altered. Special biological instrumentation systems can detect alterations of biological electrical activities, however, and thus provide a means by which one may monitor alterations in behavior patterns not otherwise observable. A simultaneous comparison of biological signal* with external magnetic and electric signals in the environment has shown that human electroencephalograms will occasionally lock on to some of these external signals) or otherwise show external modifications. Robert Beck and Andrija Puharich noted such correlations in the ELF range in 1977. William Bise found similar patterns in a research study with microwave frequencies in 1975 and verified the finding in the ELF range in 1978-79.

THE LUDWIG “VITASETTE”

Considerations of the implications of the above noted information led to the development of the magnetic pacer which is currently under test. Some earlier scientific studies have been conducted, notably by H.W. Ludwig of the Federal Republic of Germany, into the feasibility of developing devices pulsed within the ELF range which reportedly were beneficial for some people (especially that country’s diplomatic community), and sold under the trade name. The purpose of the Pacer unit is to reintroduce a natural field into a localized area- of about I meter radius. A 7.8 Hertz frequency lies near-the base of the range of natural frequencies known as the Schumann EarthIonosphere resonances. This 7.8 Hertz frequency has appeared to be able to pace the human heartbeat and affect the brain wave patterns of some people; it may be useful for inducing relaxed or sleep states. The higher frequencies may be useful in enhancing alert states in some persons. A pulsed south polar field has been seen to more easily affect males while a north polar field has been seen to more easily affect females. Placing a pacer next to the left chest, pulsing at 7.8 Hertz has shown that the heart will respond in some persons when at rest sitting quietly. Studies have shown that specific low level electric and magnetic field frequencies have profound effects on almost all biological systems on this planet. Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that alterations of natural fields may produce alterations in biological system response; thus a method of reintroducing approximate natural field conditions may be able to produce what was once a natural biological system response. It should be clearly understood that this magnetic pacer is an experimental unit and that no claims whatsoever are made regarding specific effects which may, or may not, occur to individual experimenters. (Continued from Part 3)

[Riley Crabb: In March 1978 there was a spate of news items about strong ELF wave broadcasts from Russia, coming over the polar area into Canada and the United States; and then, as Bob Beck says, there was a total news blackout and there were denials by the FCC, the Environmental Protection Agency, etc. Totally predictable, right? And he had a tape recording of the signals to play for the Conference audience. Then from the screen, he reads the slide copy of a newspaper headline.]

“Mystery Radio Signals May Cause Illness.”

Hell! They were totally disrupting left and right (brain) hemisphere synchronization! People who had never had any tendency toward epilepsy, had no hereditary tendencies in this direction, were going slightly unconscious. According to Marshall Van Ert there was a two mile stretch of perfectly clear highway where there had been four deaths in about a week. People were simply driving their cars off the road or into a telephone pole, or into oncoming traffic. These are not apocryphal stories. These are a matter of public health records. It’s in Los Angeles now at about 25 micro gauss, and yes, it’s spreading. Now the reason that Eugene, Oregon, is particularly toxic is because there is an 800-mile long antenna terminating up there, called the Bonneville Power Authority transmission line. I guess some of you engineers have heard of this thing. They are generating current and sending it down to California as direct current, 340,000 volts. A DC line is an absolutely perfect, long wire antenna. In fact it would be highly attractive to people who couldn’t launch Project Sanguine to use that as our own transmission system, at 2.2 Hertz.

SAN FRANCISCO HIT BY MYSTERY RADIO WAVES. (“BEAMING”)

Whole citizen’s groups are getting up in arms, and they don’t know who to sue. (Laughter!)

Because of the zapping of America, they’re going out after the poor little communications towers and relay points for the telephone company and what have you. Now Marshall Manner and I got to be pretty good friends after some of this. This, incidentally, is Kay Prince, the lady in the bottom picture; and Marshall and I spent a lot of time up there running down some of these Fields. I can’t talk about some of this. Some of it I can. But there were only one or two people in that area that had equipment even capable of finding the spectrum distribution — and I’ll show you photographs of this. Bill Bise asked me in the lunch room if we have actual spectrum analysis stills of this Russian Woodpecker (the term selected by ham radio operators as being most descriptive of the audio characteristics of the ELF wave transmissions from Russia) and yes, we do. Now, Bill Bise is a highly qualified engineer but he has one thing that is terribly wrong with him. He’s exactly like I am. He’s interested in kook subjects. Therefore, his data has been pretty well thrown out by government officials who would normally accept it exactly as it is: the truth. So you’ve got to run under two different covers if you’re going to survive on this planet. If you hang out with kook groups like I do, you automatically don’t know what you’re talking about. The EPA man (Environmental Pollution Agency) came to town and started tracking the signal. The first thing these turkeys did was blame it on the 4.717 Megahertz signal which was coming out of the Dixon and Alameda Naval Station and — we’ll now have a concert here (and he plays a tape of the Woodpecker signal, a strongly accented beep beep, with a little burst of noise after several beeps.)

THE GOVERNMENT COVERUP

Okay, (he runs the burst again) that little burst of white noise that you hear after the beeps is carrying the information — on this particular channel — as some of us in the room know; and in order to quiet the population and make absolute fools out of themselves, Dr. Richard Tell, who is in charge of the Western Environmental Protection Agency team that works out of Nevada said, “Oh, all you guys are hearing is Dixon and, yeah, that sounds a little bit strange to people who don’t know about that transmitter.” The last time I talked to him he was just about as apologetic as Dr. Allen Hynek who, incidentally, in UFOlogy is a very good man — getting nicknamed Swamp Gas Hynek because he’d been misquoted about the Flying Saucer up there in Michigan. Anyway, the Turkeys came down here with a truck that had a hearing range of 10 Kilohertz, which was the lowest thing they had been using for submarine communication up until a few years ago. They were orders of magnitude off; so the signal you just heard was the Navy transmitter, at 4.717 Megahertz from Dixon, that they were going to blame the whole thing on. This was the tar baby, the scapegoat. It wouldn’t work. The next thing was that the power grid was identified as the source of the signal. Any high school kid can tell you that any long wire hanging out there in space can act as an antenna and pick up all the other signals that are being transmitted and re-radiate them. Okay? Even if our Navy is fooling around with long wires as a substitute for Sanguine antennas that had been ostensibly kicked out of several states. They traced the signal and it was strongest around power grids. So what else is new? These are some of the newspaper clippings that are going in the archives. Now, they created such an outrage among everyone who graduated from high school that the FCC itself had to back off from this embarrassing, pseudo-solution. The chap who launched the whole thing is good old Walter here. I’m the heavy-set guy from the left, and this is Kay Prince, the radiological chief of the State of Oregon; and Marshall Van Ert, who until recently was the health physicist for the University of Oregon, Industrial Physics Department. The guy on the left is Mike Talley, who wrote the articles, putting his reputation on the line before news blackout. He came along to some of these sites with us.

“YOU DON’T NEED AN INSTRUMENT”

The third lady from the end was a friend of Kay Prince’s who had come down from the capital to be with us on this particular field trip. At one of these sites, where we were measuring about a 50 Micro gauss ELF signal at about 5 Hertz, she got so sick that we almost had to carry her out to the car. She broke out in red splotches. She couldn’t hold her coffee cup. She became disoriented, felt that she was going to faint, had trouble breathing. You don’t need an instrument to find this stuff, kids. You only need an instrument to prove what it is to the establishment. This is Walter’s living room where we started the series of tests, showing some of the equipment. I’ve been asked to show some of the spectrum analyzer Polaroid shots. This was done on one of the better devices. You normally don’t see these. They were made only for the Central Intelligence Agency bug finders, to find surreptitious transmitters. It’s a Model 1501 Spectrum Analyzer. I came closer to hitting Bill on the head and stealing this thing than anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s a little package that tunes almost from DC up to beyond 500 Megahertz. You can tune in any frequency. It measures the entire spectrum, on each side of it, displays the frequency on oscilloscope, the band width, the amplitude, the F-sub-zero, etc.

“Could they be having one frequency which they want to work with and the others are just to mislead us?” (asks an audience member)

“Yes,” replies Dr. Beck.

They have phantom frequencies. They are reconstructing heterodynes. Let me tell you why we’re getting it and they are not: We are on a 60 Hertz power grid. They are on a 50 Hertz power grid. Get that? That’s why they’re immune. Every civilized industrial center in America is a potential reradiating weapon of this Psychotronic ELF Field. In other words, why should they build antennas, re-radiating systems, when all of us have 110 volt systems in our homes; and we are also served with gas pipes, miles and miles of conductors, cold water pipes, etc.

“Is there a quick explanation of why 60 cycles will pick it up instead of 50?”

Right. It’s a harmonic – (Dr. Beck turns on his recording of the audio pan of the Russian broadcast) – at 5.340 Megahertz. The growl was because we have a voltage control — or rather the VFO on the receiver. That was at 5.340 megahertz and we were listening to — in other words, since you cannot hear the fundamental (the actual ELF wave) we have the local oscillator on the super heterodyne receiver running. It is a global problem. Incidentally, for the engineers again, the attenuation rate of this signal is only about three tenths of a decibel to eight tenths of a db for a million meters. That means that this signal will go around the earth 4-1/2 times before it is down a half of its original value. Nikola Tesla was right. With some of these frequencies you can excite the earth Ionosphere cavity, as though it is a huge bell, and ring it!

In other words, the Russians have a thing here which cannot be stopped. It’s practically not attenuatable by anything that we are familiar with in physics.

[Riley Crabb: Hypnotists of the World take note, the High Priests of Low Astral Mind Control have graduated from strobe lights and glittering pendulums to the Magnetic H Wave as a means of surreptitiously getting inside the subject's, or victim's, mind. As Mr Beck told his Atlanta audience...]

We abandoned that (the flashing light idea) and began using the magnetic H wave). We began using little boxes, about half this size; you’ll see a picture of one in the middle. It would alter that person’s state of consciousness, and I was doing this before I began to realize the consequences of it. After while I’ll tell you why we’re not doing that any more. The little box is on the left. After we found that this thing could alter moods, the questions came up: Is this hypnosis? Suggestion? Am I a magician? Am I doing it? So it occurred to me that I’d carry this thing around with me in my pocket. Now, I’m a bachelor. I’ve been divorced for twenty-some years; so I eat out three meals a day. So when I went to Denny’s Coffee on Sunset Boulevard I put this thing in my pocket, and occasionally I set it at a specific frequency that I’m not going to mention — because I’ve been asked not to by the people who can ask other people not to do things. And pretty soon the waitresses would start dropping coffee into the laps of the patrons. The babies would start screaming. People within a 10 or 12 foot radius (that’s a 20 foot room) would begin freaking out. I’d surreptitiously turn this thing to two Hertz higher in frequency.

Hahhhhhh (a simulated sigh of relief), you could hear the room calm down.

If you had a pocket Radio Shack decibel meter, the cocktail level effect, the volume of the conversation will drop, noticeably, in decibels. Okay. We had something here and we knew that the Soviet research had gone underground. At least the papers were no longer being published at the same rate that they were.

THE MAGNETIC “H” WAVE PENETRATES EVERYTHING

Our own government was playing at that time God, I guess, with the multi-billion dollar Project Sanguine. Their purpose was to communicate with submarines under water, with ELF magnetic Fields. The project was kicked out of Wisconsin, Michigan, and a few other places by people who had a certain nervousness about environmental disruption. They’re trying to use power lines as antenna systems, surreptitiously. Let’s look at what they were about to do so they could talk to the submarines this way. There is a better way of doing it. Frequency less than 100 Hertz. How’s that for coy? The total antenna length could be up lo 1600 miles long, antenna line current 150 amperes, total power required — watch this number —20 to 30 megawatts; and they’d need 300 to 500 acres just for the transmitter site, antenna rights-of-way up to 4400 acres. This is our answer, using brute force to communicate with underwater submarines because nothing in the world will shield the magnetic H wave, at these frequencies. Nothing. Multiple new metal cages, Faraday cages, lead, you name it. These magnetic waves, not the E or I waves but the magnetic H factor goes through anything including the earth itself. Like you saw in the model, in Tom Bearden’s slide earlier this afternoon. Nobody is safe from this type of radiation.

[Riley Crabb: "Safe, Humpf! If we were not all vulnerable to the Power, Wisdom and Love of the Logos, there would be no Involution and Evolution! These electronic sorcerers have apparently stumbled on the area of radiation or vibration by which all Life on the planet is kept under control. Now we have sorcerer's apprentices in Washington and Moscow who want to use this new-found power for their own selfish purposes, guided by gleaming eyed monsters from some Astral Hell beneath the nations' capitals. (Reptilians?)]

The hour is nigh… Prepare to meet thy doom; Any particular rush? (ha, ha). Anyway, maybe it is later than we think… We know times are bad when every time you call Dial A Prayer, you get a busy signal (more laughter).

Any of you turkeys wake up about four o’clock in the morning and can’t get back to sleep until sunup, then sleep ’till noon? Let’s see it. Let’s see hands for four o’clock in the morning. Okay. You know why? We’ve been getting some very strong Russian transmissions. There is a particular anomaly that’s the same as the Dawn Chorus — if you’re familiar with atmospheric propagation research. It makes you particularly vulnerable at that time. Notice on this top curve this 8 Hz, the thing on which we want to latch if we’re pure, spiritual and psychic — whatever that means. Four o’clock in the morning the bottom drops out and whatever is left is going to get you, baby!

THE PHASE-ARRAY ANTENNAS OF THE RUSSIANS

The first estimate of the Soviet transmitters that were causing the problems were at Riga and Gomel. Kathleen Joyce donated her drill to the project and we drilled two little holes in a globe and put those two little tacks in it so you have a historical little item there. If you draw a Great Circle route between these phase-array antennas, you are in the area around Timmins, Canada. Now there may have been some tremendous disturbances up there about a year ago that were traceable to this particular problem.

Anyway, when Dr. Andrija Puharich was out here (in California) and Kathleen Joyce and I hosted him, we showed him the apparatus. This is probably the first he had heard of the psycho-physiological effects of the ELF Fields; and I recall on your living room floor, Kathleen, where he flexed his muscle near the coil, saw the spike readout on this little oscilloscope, and realized that we finally had a detector in human captivity that could see micro-gauss levels. In other words his EMG, the few micro-volts of potential, firing through the nerve impulses, through the conductive layers of his skin, was creating enough of a magnetic field to read out on this thing. He got very excited so we began showing him some of my research dating back for about the last eight years, and he decided that this was important enough to take back to the United Nations.

So he contacted the chap who really runs the government. This man has survived about the last five administrations. He must remain nameless because he is in a very low-profile position. I can assure you he is no one that you have ever heard about or read about in the newspapers. They sent me an airline ticket and invited me to come back to the United Nations and the weather was so bad that weekend — the winds were blowing about 30 miles an hour and it snowed six times in one day. The next day it was exceptionally hot. Anyway, we thought that weather manipulation was happening. It was most unusual for weather.

DR PUHARICH’S SOPHISTICATED FARADAY CAGE

Dr. Puharich and I were supposed to have about an hour. It ran into a two-and-half-hour briefing. Kurt Waldheim (Secretary General of the United Nations) was out of the country at the time, so our host and chap that we informed was the number two man in the United Nations, Rudi himself. Now, the experiments which caused all of the excitement. Any of you guys ever been in Ossining, New York and seen this Faraday Cage? (The home of Dr. Puharich, 87 Hawkins Avenue, about 40 miles north of New York city) It was probably the most sophisticated cage in captivity. It had three layers of copper and three layers of soft iron. In other words this is H wave shielding, and copper shielding for the E wave Faraday Cage. The thing probably has as much attenuation as the one at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the triple new metal cage.

Okay, what we did here, we took this little box. Let’s break it out here. This box has been disarmed. It is only mildly psycho-active. We did this at the request of the people who tell you to do things, for damn good reasons. This is the one. We placed it outside the Faraday Cage. We sealed it up. Incidentally, the pickup, the magnetic pickup coil, is over here in this plastic garbage can filled with sand, to act as a micro seismic damper — so that we weren’t seeing quite as much vibration. We worked with several subjects and this little box was run by one of Dr. Puharich’s secretaries, outside. She was told to turn the dial a little bit. Turn it on. Don’t tell us what’s happening. Turn it off. Turn the dial to another number. Turn it on. Turn it off. Total double blind. No one inside the cage knew what was going to happen or when it was going lo happen. The subject’s brain waves were going to one channel on a chart recorder, with zero cross-talk. The other chart, with a tape recorder, was going to a magnetic pickup; so we could compare the brain waves of the subjects with what was happening magnetically inside of this absolutely airtight, secure environment. The chart readings — the one at the top and bottom were 180° changes of the magnetic pickup. The center portion of that chart was the human subject’s brain waves.

Over the range of 6 Hertz to 14 Hertz, with some subjects there was 100% entrainment of frequency and phase. Get that. They locked on total! A little box the size of a package of cigarettes, when it uses the neural frequency principle can entrain the brain waves of a subject inside a totally shielded room, without his knowledge, consent, etc, That’s what this is all about.

THERE AINT NO HIDING PLACE DOWN HERE

[Riley Crabb: "And now Dr Puharich had an inkling of the mechanical basis for the entrainment that he and Ila Ziebell, Sarah Bursak and Uri Geller enjoyed (or suffered) in Geller's apartment in Tel Aviv in December 1971. Do advanced Elementals on the Lower Astral Plane (Reptilians?) also have their Little Black Boxes as they carry on their work for the false Gods of Mankind? e.g. Jehovah, Allah ?]

What we’re saying here by entrainment — if you look at the shape of this wave, they all fall on the same time rate. Starling from a half a second to four seconds after the box goes on, the brain waves, the neurons, are being totally driven by this little magnetic oscillator. It is down below 25 nano-Teslas at the source. A nano is one billionth of one Tesla. A Tesla is 10 to the fourth gauss.

“PRIOR TO THE TOTAL NEWS BLACKOUT”

Back in March, the 26th and 27th of this year (1978) a chap named Mike Thoele, who is a journalist for the Eugene. Oregon Register Guard, decided to take his life in his hands and write about some of the things that had been happening up here. I have copies of these and many, many other articles that appeared in the public press prior to the lime of the total news blackout. There were a few articles for a few days. A day after this one there were the denials, by the FCC, the Environmental Protection Agency, etc.

Totally predictable, right? And I have a tape here of some of the signals that have been recorded.

(Continued from Part 1)

Is there censorship of literature on Extreme Low Frequency waves and Electroencephalograph Entrainment? Apparently!

Mr Beck told his Conference audience that in the early days of ELF wave research he found 182 references to the effects of ELF Electro-Static and Electro-magnetic fields on human performance, moods, etc, but later when he sent one of his students to the bio-medical library of the University of California at Los Angeles to look up some of these references, the student found that many had been sliced out of the text with a razor blade!

How about the relationship between the Mean Annual Magnetic Activity and the number of Sunspots? Again, man is a bio-cosmic transducer. We know we live on a planet that has fairly well predicted (7, 21, 11, etc.) cycles. What about this curve of magnetic storms, that’s the top one, and mortality from nervous and cardiovascular diseases? A guy with a 25-walt transmitter — with the Luxembourg effect (which means a circularly polarized antenna aimed at the ionosphere), with a few Hertz frequency difference from a 50,000 watt broadcast transmitter can mood-manipulate an area of about 200 square miles. Dangerous? Hell yes!

How about comparison with daily periodic changes and the earth’s electric E and magnetic H fields, and rhythms of living organisms? Circadian rhythms? All of these graphs which you are going lo see for the next few minutes, incidentally, are from medically accepted literature, from the medical journals themselves. The dielectric constant of water, the magic transducer.

(To Tom Bearden) “I’ll give you a copy of this in print, Tom, you don’t need notes.”

Okay. Here’s another one, a paper generated in the Radio Science Journal, Research of the National Bureau of Standards. Again take a look at where the magic number appears to be. That’s an 8.0 under the power distribution curve, the same Figure that we were finding in the heads of the psychics, the medicine men, the witch doctors, the Christian Mystics — they’re all the same! Why was the north Atlantic Treaty Organization, Advanced Study Institute on Low Frequency Magnetic Radiation, generating paper work by the bushel until about 12 years ago? Here’s some of their findings. Let’s skip some of the technical part of it. We don’t want to intrude on the time of the next speaker.

THAT MAGIC, OCCULT NUMBER

7.8 Hertz. Any of you people know Dr. Ed Maxey, Stanton Maxey, in Florida? Okay. About the time I was playing with it he did a interesting very experiment. He took a little coil, a few turns of wire, put it on the floor underneath the operating table — what do you call those damn things that they have in the Electroencephalographic room? Where they check for epilepsy, etc? He found that by turning this thing on at certain frequencies a large percentage of the people tested had brain wave entrainment. Entrainment simply means that their brain wave — the firing of their neurons —- latches on to this magnetic field coming from this little coil putting out micro-gauss. You can’t even measure things this low unless you have highly sophisticated equipment. It is occult. It is invisible. It’s tasteless, odorless, etc. This is in a paper that he presented to a geophysical society meeting not too long ago. He too came up with the magic number that I have: 7.8 Hertz. He found that exactly four seconds after this field went on, the subject’s brain waves would lock on exactly, on frequency and phase.

“How about this for a covert, manipulative tool?”

“7.8?” asked a member of the audience.

“7.8 is the number he used”, replied Beck. “We’ve refined that down to three decimal places.”

MAN-WOMAN – THE BIO-COSMIC TRANSDUCER

A lot of people, a few years ago, began looking at the possibility that Man is a Bio-Cosmic Transducer; not only a transmitter, but a receiver; and that somehow his brain waves can lock on and modulate this (the earth’s) field, and this might be the medium for ESP. Some good work that was being done at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) in their brain research group.

Dr. W. R. Adey was on another government grant sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, into the effects of these (in this case pulsed) very high frequency fields that were pulsed with a very low frequency modulation. His published papers, and this goes back several years, show that this could influence the brain waves of cats and monkeys; and he didn’t talk about the work that was done out there with human beings because by now this was fairly sensitive. They knew it worked. They didn’t know why. So a lot of time, money and effort went into finding out what in the human brain was beginning to respond to this.

[Comment by Riley Crabb -- At this point the reader might well ask: What is the Navy doing looking into electro-magnetic modification of human behavior? And, if this is for the defense of the nation, why be so secretive about it? Unless of course the real target of the psycho-political warfare is the people of the nation.]

Now, a few German physicists were looking into the possibility that this may have been the mechanism that we have lived with for thousands of years. The name of this paper is “The Biological Effect of Extremely Low Frequencies in the Atmosphere”. In other words, if we live in a natural ELF environment could this possibly be the key and mechanism for mass accidents, mass suicides, etc? All of the people who did this work independently, Tromp in Holland, Koenig in Germany, found, yes, when they went back through the weather records, this had to be the mechanism that caused all of these admissions to psychiatric hospitals on certain days, all of these homicides. The data is beginning to become massive.

James R. Hamer — or Hammer. He was working with human subjects, and he has disappeared, as have a few others. He did some extremely interesting work, and this was way back in 1968. At that time he was with the Space Biology Laboratory Brain Research Institute, University of California. The rest of his papers that I managed to gather about ten years ago are now classified. You can’t get them for love or money; they have been up-statused. Hamer found that in a 9-Hertz signal the reaction time was definitely shortened. You were more alert. If you changed that signal down a few cycles per second, 3 to 5 Hertz, look what happens to the reaction time. This applies to human beings, monkeys, cats — apparently ail life forms that have brain waves. Tromp did the same thing independently. Some more of the paper that was generated on the Office of Naval Research grant at UCLA.

(Another slide) This is another of the papers which was subsequently classified. At that time he was doing this work openly at the Northrop Space Laboratory and this was an inter-office memorandum which survived the classification process.

If you’d like to see that I’d be happy to share it with you.

HOW ARE YOU ACTUALLY AFFECTED BY ELF WAVES?

Let’s get out of here and into other things. Solar activity and incidence of cerebral spinal meningitis. Tom Bearden was talking about Carrier possibilities? We don’t know whether the waves lower your resistance, or you can actually put the information on them and it is re-created inside the nervous system. Crest days of weather pain and the relation to sun spots and magnetic disturbances, etc. Mortality diseases of the nervous system and the lower curve of sun spot activity. In other words, we are looking here at natural ELF phenomena before it began being manipulated. Sun spots and earth’s magnetic activity. Again epidemic meningitis.

Okay, now it gets really interesting: Socio-political mass disturbances, 1923 to 1927, in Europe, related to Full Moon axis. Remember, the full moon modifies the tides. It modifies these frequencies. In this case the tides are in the Ionosphere and the Heaviside Layer and their position above the earth. Double daily deaths from angina pectoris, and combined groups on the Lunar axis. What if we could manipulate this? Whole populations would be subject.

Tuberculosis. What? Does it influence those germs, those little microbes, as well? I don’t know, but there it is, positive correlation. Cholera in Russia, from 1823 to 1923, versus solar activity in the same period. Maybe all of the life forms on this planet are locked in to this electro-magnetic energy, just as the Radionics and Radiathesia people have sensed, for quite a while. Epileptic attacks, of course, totally predictable. Suicides. People tend to go unconscious on this because it’s frightening and it’s a little heavy, technically.

HOW TO MANUFACTURE A PSYCHIC

Again, here is an artist’s conception which I have adapted to show this synchronized brain wave activity, the stranger within. Okay, if psychics are people who have a particular brain wave pattern — we don’t know which comes first here, the chicken or the egg — can you make a psychic by driving his brain wave to that particular frequency? Marvelous question, don’t you think? Brilliant, wish I’d thought of it first.

Our first attempt at manufacturing psychics and Radionics operators and healers was to put these little light bulbs in an empty eyeglass frame. On the left is an incandescent bulb and on the right is a little cold cathode indicator, like on your FM radio tuner. We flashed these little lights in real time to the Schumann resonance (we picked the Schumann resonance up on a coil), filtered out everything except that wave to which the psychics would entrain and fed them this little flickering light. If you flash a light in a person’s face you get an evoked potential in the occipital cortex. That’s the photic response. And you know that if that is at a certain frequency you are going to turn that person onto epilepsy. You’ll have a petit mal seizure. Remember all these night clubs in New York, these psychedelic clubs, that were having these lawsuits against them because the operators would get the strobes in around a thing which was the second harmonic of the Delta spiking rhythm you see in epilepsy?

Okay, when they test for epilepsy in the hospital, they flash lights at your head at a certain frequency, or they give you a drug which will over stimulate the firing of the neurons. But, if you put in a beneficial frequency, you can probably cause an evoked response of the brain wave at that frequency. Now that was marvelous, except for one thing. It takes about one hundred milliseconds from the time that light flashes for the signal to cause an evoked potential, and that hundred milliseconds varies for most human beings. In other words, you can test IQ with this little box. The longer it takes that flash to get out here as an electrical signal, the dumber that person is because the slower his system is responding.

You are aware of Hurtle’s work in Canada that found non-culturally biased IQ (Intelligence Quotient) tests for cats, dogs, babies, people who couldn’t speak English, people who couldn’t read or write, etc. So what was terribly wrong with this brilliant idea was that the light didn’t get there to the brain for everybody at the same time; so we abandoned that idea and began using the magnetic H Wave.

ELF WAVES AMD EEG ENTRAINMENT A PSYCHOTRONIC WARFARE POSSIBILITY

In 1952, a German physicist named W.O. Schumann, playing around with math as physicists are prone to do, postulated that the earth – being a good conductor – was surrounded a good dielectric called air and around this is another layer of a good conductor known as the ionosphere, the Heaviside Layer, and that this constitutes a potentially resonant system. All of you Boy Scouts know that your compass points to the North Pole because the earth itself is a magnet with a North and South Pole. Now that means that any energy trapped in this earth-ionosphere cavity — like lightning storms, etc. — will cause it to ring like a bell. But the surprise was that this signal frequency was the identical spectrum of human brain waves. I see we are getting some nods out there. Those of you who are up on your current physics know about this. It was irresistible to me to build an apparatus to measure the Earth’s brain wave, and at the same time measure the Witch Doctor’s brain waves, to see if there was correlation; which we did. THE PSYCHO-MAGNETIC COMPONENT The fourth or fifth generation system is right here on the floor in front of you today. Now this publication, which is the ‘Journal of Research’ of the National Bureau of Standards, Division of Radio Propagation, Volume 66, page number three, May-June 1962, tells one of the early efforts where a government study, granted to Drs. Koch and Pitchum at the University of Rhode Island, had made recordings of the earth’s brain wave, and those of you who know anything about Encephalography could almost diagnose the patient by these little squiggles. They look identical to human brain waves ! Below, typical human brain waves from W. Grey Walter’s “The Living Brain”, page 87.

“Were you taking this reading off the apparatus yourself?” asked a member of the audience. We’re reading the Magnetic H Wave which is the psycho-active component, replied Beck. Any radio propagation wave has three components; the E Wave which can be picked up by an antenna, the Electro-Static Component; the Magnetic Component, the vector is 90° at right angles to it — we’ll get into it a bit later. It’s a good question.”

Okay. So we built apparatus to test the thesis: Are there certain people walking among us today — perhaps one person in three thousand — who by dent of heredity, or training, meditation, or whatever it might be, is able to tune in to this magnetic component, which is down around one micro-gauss, one millionth of a gauss.

THE “ENTRAINMENT” OF PSYCHIC HEALERS

Somehow they latch on to this cosmic carrier of information, transduce it into paranormal “seeing” ability — after Carlos Castaneda and his maybe-mythical Don Juan — could this be the “drummer” to which these psychics, healers, dowsers, etc., were entrained? The tentative answer to this is, YES! And we’ll see how this has been developed into a weapon of war… Now, the brain wave spectra — of even Dr. Hieronymous here, whom we measured at about noon today — seems to center around that magic number of 7.8 to 8.0 Hertz (cycles per second). In other words we now have an objective test to see whether that person is tuning in to a paranormal state of consciousness, or whether he is getting disincarnate, making it up while he goes along, garbage. If we look at these curves (referring to a slide on the screen) at 8 Hertz, 7.8 Hertz, there is a tremendous node in the earth’s brain wave. There’s another one at about 14 Hertz, etc. Amazing! The same numbers which you get at the Alpha-Beta border, the Alpha wave, Beta, etc. Man is a bio-cosmic resonator.

Let’s get past this a little bit. Now, what are some of the factors which can alter human moods if this thesis is correct? Sun spot activity. Recall how solar flare activity totally disrupts radio communication on this planet? It also changes the frequency of the Schumann wave. Lunar tides. The same gravity forces that cause tides in our oceans de-tune the earth ionosphere cavity slightly, changing its frequency. How about this as a solution for ‘moon madness’? A lot of previously anecdotal, but very well documented data, is going to seem to fit this model of why is man sensitive to these cosmic events?

Here are some photographs of solar flare activity. The Earth, drawn to the same scale as some of these tremendous bursts of energy, is this little dot right here. Tremendous bursts of energy from outer space alter the Earth s ionosphere cavity therefore changing the frequency slightly; therefore it can retune our nervous systems, electro-magnetically.

SOLAR RADIATION AND STOCK PRICES

We don’t have Mr. Beck’s film strip but we do have a battered copy of the classic in this field, Dewey and Dakin’s “Cycles, the Science of Prediction”, published in 1947 by Henry Holt & Co., New York. Below is a reproduction of chart 9, page 144: On page 142 Dewey and Dakin write; “. . . in 1934, two Harvard research workers, Carlos GarciaMata and Felix Shaffner, reexamined the Jevons studies (on crop cycles) and checked them; they ended with the conclusion that sunspot phenomena showed no correlation with agricultural production, but- the solar phenomena showed a remarkable correlation with industrial production, business activity, and with stock market prices. Since this particular outcome of this studies apparently left them a little surprised and aghast, the two students threw up their hands and passed the problem over to the biologists and the psychologists.” Biologists and Psychologists (at Harvard) apparently weren’t particularly interested, we might add, but Russian physicists were! They later proved in their own way that the 4th Kingdom in Nature, the human kingdom, reacts immediately to the Magnetic changes of the Sun, and offered this knowledge for the practical and tactical use of the Military Maniacs in Moscow.

LOCKED IN THE MAGNETIC EMBRACE OF THE SUN

Again, continues Mr Beck, that little dot on the solar flare is the size of the earth. Now we wont go into the physics of the H Layer and the I Layer, etc., but basically the ionized particles that are emitted by the sunspot activity eventually arrive at Earth, are trapped at the North and South Geomagnetic Poles, and cause all sorts of electromagnetic anomalies right here, where we live, our own little space ship. The inner magnetosphere, the solar winds, the outer magnetosphere: some of the things that we are familiar with that are triggered by this energy coming in from the Sun are the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis. These reveal the tremendous amount of energy that comes in and ionizes the rare gasses, creating the luminescence, Nature’s light show. Earth’s magnetosphere is caused by interactions of the Solar Wind, Geomagnetic Field, and trapped particles such as those in the Van Allen regions. Sunward side of the magnetosphere is pressed in toward Earth by the Solar Wind, while the magnetosphere’s “tail” presumably extends past the orbit of the Moon. From Ben Bova’s paperback book: The Fourth State of Matter.

THE MAGICK OF THE PRIESTS

What if the ancient people realized that on certain days of the year, the solstices, the equinoxes, etc.; these frequencies change; and what if the priesthood decided to build observatories like Stonehenge and the ones all over Central and South America, Europe, England, to predict these so the people could be either freed or implanted all over again?? I don’t know the answer to that. It is a totally hypothetical question. But it was terribly important to them to predict these seasons and for reasons beyond the usual ones given, which were usually agriculture, etc. This next slide is titled: “The Influence of Planetary Position on Solar Activity”. The top curve is the disposition of Jupiter, Earth, Venus and Mercury relative to the Sun. The lower curve is sunspot activity. One to one correlation. Now, how about an electro-magnetic basis for Astrology? As the positions of these planets create gravity tides, and influence sunspot activity, it cannot help but change the frequencies in which we are bathed daily, which are occult. YESTERDAY’S MAGICK IS TODAY’S SCIENCE!

Now, let’s think about this word ‘occult’. It cones from the same root as occluded. That means hidden. You probably realize that half of Europe in the Middle Ages died every few years because of Bubonic plague, Black Plague, etc., because Von Leeuenhoek hadn’t invented his Little microscope and looked into a drop of water. People like Pasteur had not yet decided that this was not the work of demons and devils but bacteria and microbes and fungus, etc.

All these things had been occult prior to the invention of instruments that would reveal them to man’s consciousness so he could potentially deal with them. If you don’t believe in the germ theory of disease then apply this model to whether you get good wine or bad wine from France in certain years. But these mysterious (magnetic) forces had been occult prior to 1952 when the predictable effect of these electromagnetic influences had been discovered by a physicist, and in 1962 when they had been actually observed. Clyde Tombaugh observed the planet Pluto years after it’s presence had been predicted by its permutation of arcs. Now for some of the figures you’ll get out of your medical and physical textbooks: Why does man, a biocosmic resonator, function in the manner of your nervous system acting as a receiver? A brilliant researcher predicted about ten years ago, that 8 Hertz would be the psycho physiological frequency for an altered state of consciousness. These come from standard medical reference plates.

Man is unique in that the RNA in his brain has a dielectric constant K of 140,000. How many engineers are in here? Do you realize the significance of that figure? That one little cell, out of billions and billions in your cerebral cortex, can approach the liquid crystal boundaries, a quantum transducer that will respond to coherent energies in the neighborhood of one hundredth of a micro-gauss. Now you’d have to be an engineer to follow that last thing and if you did you’d probably fall over dead. This has not been suspected until fairly recently. It means that we are not $2.40 worth of minerals and water — as I learned when I was in the third grade. We are incredibly complex bio-cosmic transducers; and the things that we have been calling mind, or occult, or what have you, are today surrendering to scientific research on a rational basis. It means that we have within us probably one of the most sensitive, quadruple-conversion, super heterodyne receivers that’s ever been developed; and that we can respond to energy levels that almost appear paranormal.

PREDICTION OF ATTEMPTED GLOBAL MANIPULATION

In fact some of the paperwork that came out o£ the secret files, and was declassified and hand delivered to me, pointed out that our own Central Intelligence Agency three years ago had given a research grant to Garret Air Research Corporation, El Segundo, California; in which Dr. Ed Wortz, one of my buddies in biofeedback research and Dr. Jed Erkins, had predicted the exact mechanism by which the Soviets are manipulating — or can manipulate us globally. From this very data, that Man, as a bio-cosmic transducer, can respond to things which had previously been called ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) with known, physical mechanisms. That’s what it means. That’s part of it along with the translation (from the Russian). This was about a second or third generation Schumann detector. At that time there was one of these at the University of Rhode Island, another at the National Bureau of Standards in Colorado, and a third one was in the trunk of my 1970 Chevy, heh , heh. But this was the-basis of some of the research that we were doing. And like we did with Dr. Hieronymous and Tom Bearden – and a few others today – we can now carry a little tape recorder and a little box about this big, the size of a king-sized pack age of cigarettes, into the field and make Schumann resonance measurements, brain-wave measurements; put them on a C-60 cassette, take them back to a lab and do analysis that would have been considered previously impossible, even with equipment that weighed hundreds and hundreds of pounds.

So now we have the equipment to which the occult is beginning to surrender its secrets. This was about our fourth or fifth generation Schumann detector. The wrist watch in the picture will give you an idea of the size of it. Now we can go out into the field and do some real research without benefit of a government grant. I know the colleges and universities that were working on this. We saw the amounts that went to the University of Rhode Island, hell, that would have kept me going for the next hundred years! Well, this is a do-it-yourself project. It was rather primitive but we did begin getting the results. This coil (another picture) oh, there’s Dr. Bluejoy, Dr. Candless and some of us looking for a site for his Health Ranch, based on magnetic anomaly standing lines that would be beneficial for human habitation. How many thousands of years have the Chinese practitioners, using their own bodies as a transducer, been practicing Kung Schwei? Etc? What is propitious for human habitation?

THE “SECRETS” OF THE OCCULT

Yes, they will yield to the determined investigator, but what is his or her motive? Suppose it’s only scientific curiosity? Or even lower on the scale of incentive, to sell the secret to the highest bidder? The CIA in America and the KGB in Russia? Their squalid morals are a matter of public record. In past ages such investigations were conducted in the strict privacy of temple priest hoods or occult Lodges, and the investigator was an Initiate, sworn to a certain code of behavior. If he or she violated the code the penalty was death. Now we have scientists publicly investigating the Power of the Mind, and publishing abroad the mechanics of the manifestation of that Power in the emotional and physical worlds! Will the Ever- Present Creator have to initiate the whole human race to assure compliance to His Law? Yes, the initiation process began with World War I and is still continuing… (WAR IN IRAQ!) This is like Carlos Castaneda’s ‘Place of Power’. Now the chap in the center had come over from India to observe some of our work. There is Dr. Jack Zimmerman and Family; and some of the heavy heads in the Los Angeles area. This was about five years ago; and again it’s in a primitive state of research, but I think we can turn you onto it as time goes on. (another slide) This is Oracle Rock in New Mexico.

CENSORSHIP: CIA? KGB? OR IMPECUNIOUS STUDENTS?

Now, an interesting thing developed. A.S. Pressman, Department of Physics, Moscow University, did this open literature survey of the work on magnetics and life a number of years ago. Then suddenly most of these references — or rather the critical ones in Soviet literature — went underground. Is this trying to tell us some thing? At the time I did my own literature search, in which I found 182 references in the open literature to the effects of Extremely Low Frequency Electro-static and Electro-magnetic fields on human performance, mood, etc. At that time all of these things were in the open literature. Now one of my students went around to the bio-med library at UCLA not long ago and he found a number of these had been sliced out of the text with a razor blade! That leads us to two conclusions: #1, were the kids too broke to put a dime in the Xerox machine? Or had some of these been removed?

The Tesla Mystiquehttp://journal.borderlandsciences.org/2010/the-tesla-mystique/ http://journal.borderlandsciences.org/2010/the-tesla-mystique/#comments Mon, 01 Feb 2010 03:00:40 +0000 http://journal.borderlandsciences.org/?p=336 ]]> Nikola Tesla, The Philadelphia Experiment, HAARP and Other Folklore
Article by George B. Trinkaus, © 2008. Republished with permission.

Despite his obscurity, the greatest genius of all time was Nikola Tesla. Geniuses like Tesla and Einstein come along only every 50 years or so. Tesla was a humanitarian idealist consumed by a passion to save the world from poverty and war. An extraterrestrial from Venus, Tesla was a superhumun inventor who had the uncanny ability to visualize the operation of machines in his head. Tesla, the prodigal genius, the forgotten genius, the sorcerer, the man out of time, the wizard with lightning in his hands. Tesla’s abstruse, esoteric electric technology is best interpreted by experts in quantum physics and scaler electromagnetics.

In his old age, forgotten and penniless, Tesla was murdered by agents of the U.S. government in a seedy Manhattan hotel room, his papers confiscated and disappeared by the FBI. Tesla’s technology continues to be undisclosed to the public and instead is directed into black projects, like the Philadelphia Experiment, and HAARP.

Antigravitic UFOs are Tesla technology, as are the quantum-vacuum, zero-point energy generators that drive them. Tesla’s technology has brought us the Tesla Scaler Potentizer, the Teslar wristwatch, and the Tesla electric sportscar. It was Tesla’s magnifying transmifrer that caused the devastating Tunguska explosion of 1908. A contemporary black-project version underground in Canada accidentally brought about the East Coast blackout of 2003.

The preceding will pass as intelligent Tesla-speak on late-night talk radio, on the internet, and at cocktail parties. The italics above contain some direct quotations from the literature: other examples are more periphrastic: all are consistent with the idiom of the Tesla Mystique.

The Mystique sentimentalizes, romanticizes, and mystifies the memory of Nikola Tesla. The Mystique is determined to make Tesla awesome, fantastic, and beyond comprehension. The Mystique is an intellectual fashion wave that distorts biography, history, and science. It is a vogue that has been embraced by fringe media and dabbled wrth by mass media. The Mystique is taking root in the culture as official truth. The Mystique has no critics.

The Mystique must make Tesla a paragon of character in all directions. For example:

Tesla, the Humanitarian

The sentimentalized Tesla becomes the humanitarian idealist fighting the establishment for the benefit of human society. Contrary to the Mystique, Tesla was above all an engineer. Engineering was his education, his consuming passion, his daily practice. Tesla the engineer incidentally might have hoped that his inventions would advance society toward peace, convenience, comfort, and a more efficient use of human energy. Incidentally.

Tesla was indeed an idealist. His idealistic passion was that of the engineer. He insisted that machine possibilities be carried to their ultimate, logical, evolutionary conclusions. He had an incorrigible respect for his own inventive instincts. Let’s respect Tesla for all of that in his character. Is it not enough? But the Mystique requires a saintly paragon.

“The Mystique would give us a
liberal-humanitarian Tesla, politically
correct according to the modern etiquette.”

Tesla’s inventing pushed forward relentlessly, sometimes oblivious to ruling-system interests. That is heroic. Tesla’s dream for the ultimate realiiation of his wireless was a “World System”. His ill-fated tower at Wardencliff (near Shoreham, Long Island) was to be the prototype magnifying transmitter for a global communications network. It was to propagate both broadcast and point-to-point wireless, including telephone, telegraph, stock tickers, teletype, even FAX, as well as voice and music on a global scale, a monopolist’s dream.

The Wardencliff magnifying transmitter also may have had the potential to be a utility that could propagate electric power wirelessly through the earth to industry and homes in the area. But this potential is not pushed in the “World System” brochure which was published to promote the project.

Did Tesla advertise this wireless-power capabilitly to his financier- J.P Morgan? Did a humanitarian Tesla threaten capitalism with free electric power, and thus drive Morgan to halt the project, as the Mystique would have us believe?

Not necessarily. The project’s formidable telecommunications capability in itself may have been enough to induce Morgan to kill Wardencliff. Tesla’s grandoise dream would have taken radio right off the bat into a global centralization not quite achievable even today. No multinational institutional structure, corporate or governmental, existed at the time upon which such a svstem could have been founded. At the turn of the century the J.P. Morgans might have been dreaming globalistically, but it would be thirty years before the moguls could establish radio networks on a national scale.

The Mystique would give us a liberal-humanitarian Tesla, politically correct according to the modern etiquette. Unfortunately, he does not fit the template. Pure technologists like Tesla tend toward a mechanistic social view. To Tesla, human society was a machine, and it needed perfecting. Tesla saw his World System as a civilizing force. He wrote, “It will be very efficient in enlightening the masses, particularly in uncivilized countries and less accessible regions.”

What did Tesla mean by “civilization?” He said, “No community can exist and prosper without rigid discipline.” He said, “Law and order absolutely require the maintenance of organized force.” Tesla, a believer in organized military force, invented weapons of war (robotic boats and submarines, death rays, etc.) which he tried to sell to the US Navy and to the Department of War.

The Mystique would make Tesla a pacifist, because the inventor idealized a mechanized, automated, robotic warfare which would replace human participants entirely with machines (a misunderstanding of the institution of war, which depends upon human destruction and terror). Tesla foresaw weapons of mass destruction and the possibility of a lasting world peace based on mutually-assured-destruction, but this is a Kissinger pacifism.

Tesla, the inventor of wireless and remote control, foresaw the “teleautomatic” warfare of today in which robotic Predator aircraft, controlled from a bunker in Nevada, deliver bombs and missiles upon Afghanistan. Sorry, but if we credit Tesla with remote control, this insidious connection can be made.

Tesla, the purist engineer, advocated a social engineering that included eugenic cleansing. He said government “should prevent the breeding of the unfit by sterilization and the deliberate guidance of the mating instinct.”

Humanitarian or totalitarian? You decide.

Tesla, the Genius

Granted, if the word genius has any meaning, it would apply to a Nikola Tesla. The issue is, how much meaning can any word have when it becomes cliché? When you utter “Tesla” in conversation, if vou don’t hear “who?” you will get back “genius” within five seconds. Try it.

Tesla could visualize machines working in his head! But can’t any mechanical thinker? Yet one hears this all the time.

Is there a Tesla biographv with a title that has in it no “genius” or variation thereof? A magazine journalist of the l940s, John O’Neill, authored a panegyric called Prodigal Genius (1946), which has become institutionalized as the standard. O’Neill’s enthusiasm may have been genuine, his biography eloquent and respectably researched, but his spin is an echo of the newspaper hype of Tesla’s heyday. O’Neal’s biography (still reprinted today) set precedent for the obligatory promotional idiom that permeates almost all of Tesla biography as well as almost all other discourse on the man and his work.

“Tesla, the great mathematical and physics genius, came up with an idea called zero-point energy,” quacks Michio Kaku. the string theorist, who has been declared a genius himself.

“Would the electrical age ever
have happened without Nikola Tesla?
Perish the thought, says the Mystique.”

In his heyday, Tesla was exploited as the poster-boy for the emerging electric-power utility industry that was exploiting his AC inventions. Far from obscure, Tesla circa 1900 was as famous as Thomas Edison. The press romanced a genius Tesla to the public in the process of promoting this industry, which would develop into the omnipotent monopolies of Samuel Insull, the modern grid, and Enron. Of course, later, the media would turn on their pet genius and try to render him invisible, limiting his exposure to an annual birthday press conference.

The Tesla brand was used by the system and then abruptly disposed. But the brand has seen a revival today in various products, including the Tesla sportscar (which does have a plausible claim in that today’s electric cars use AC motors derived from Tesla’s).

Would the modern electrical age never have happened without Nikola Tesla? Perish the thought, says the Mystique. Tesla’s alternating-current meshed with the needs of an industrial system which could not have expanded nationally into today’s expansive grid on Edison’s puny direct- current system. But it’s arguable that the alternators, motors, and transformers which the system needed in order to progress might have been invented by one or more “geniuses” other than Tesla. The Mystique shudders at the thought.

Tesla inherited a pre-modernist physics that allowed him exceptional latitude for exploring technological possibility, which may be one reason modernists, in their envy, feel they must ostracize him from humanity as a special case, a genius. Some differentiate Tesla as so exceptional that he must have come from another planet.

The mad-scientist cliché is another instance of the differentiated, special-case Tesla. That genius Tesla was so weird, possibly insane. The scary spark streamers in horror films issue from the coils of that mad scientist, Tesla. Biographers dwell on the eccentricities of their genius: the hand-washing, the stack of napkins at Delmonico’s, the refusal to shake hands. Wrapping Tesla in cliche’ is a way not to see him.

Genius cliche’ aside, can we responsibly describe Tesla as having exceptional insight, that he was a sensitive, meaning one who has retained the original insight into nature of the child? That is certainly supportable when argued from the borderland by a Gerry Vassilatos.

One work that provides relief from the pervasive genius cliché (although the title does have that ring) is Enigma Fantastique by W. Gordon Allen (Health Research) The book parallels Tesla’s life with that of Rudolf Steiner. It was Tesla’s distinctive education that made him special, says Allen. Jesuit instructors played apart, as did various mystical schools circulating in Eastern Europe when Tesla studied at Gruz. These stressed an unusual self-discipline of both mind and body, and the development of powers of rigorous self-application. Tesla’s distinctive strengths are these. The genius sentimentality is a disfavor to Tesla and to the concept of human potential in general.

Tesla, the Victim

The victim cliché dovetails with the genius one, and it feeds upon inventors (as it does writers, musicians, and artists). Thus the Mystique would have our genius dying in poverty. His death by murder is sometimes in the script (by government agents), and the myth has all of his work stolen and suppressed.

It’s true that, after being dumped by J.P. Morgan, Tesla suffered economic humiliations. For example, there is evidence that he was forced to pawn his interest in Wardencliff to the Waldorf Hotel in an attempt to cover his debt. But the Mystique fails to appreciate that Tesla died at age 87 of natural causes, not in poverty, but in his rooms at the New Yorker, a commodious midtown hotel, which is not quite the Waldorf but a nice situation for a senior citizen, being a little city unto itself with restaurants, shops, and services, (a nifty habitat, testifies this writer, who stayed at the New Yorker more than once in his college days, fifteen years after Tesla’s death). The New Yorker Hotel was a very decent place for a venerable inventor to live out his last days.

The Mystique celebrates Tesla as the Serbian immigrant who made good, but culturally the cosmopolitan Tesla over the years had become a New Yorker.

Tesla’s papers and belongings at the Hotel New Yorker indeed were confiscated by the government, not by the FBI, but by a department that once existed within Immigration called the Division of Alien Property. It may be true that many of Tesla’s New Yorker notes got disappeared, and we may yearn to see them, but it is a distortion to dwell lugubriously on this, for we have so much of Tesla’s technology raw – in a hundred or so US patents in print for years and now easily accessed on the Internet. Also in printed volumes have been Tesla’s collected Lectures, Patents, Articles and a rich and copious document on radio technology called Colorado Springs Notes. Tesla, a gifted writer, wrote his own little autobiography called My Inventions. This writer has edited and published Tesla’s The True Wireless.

Consider also all the material unearthed by Leland Anderson, John Ratzlaff, Gerry Vassilatos and others. Vassilatos mined Tesla’s notes in archives found in the annex of the New York Central Library. Biographer Marc Seiffer mined the National Archives in Washington, DC, and in the Tesla Museum in Belgrade. By no means has the available wealth of Tesla material been totally explored and digested. Those who are demanding government “disclosure” of free energy and antigravitics, have thev exhausted the government’s open patent archives? Also, a lot of accessible Tesla has been ignored because it is just too nonconforming and deep.

“How many who have ventured into the
uncertain profession of inventing can
claim such good fortune?”

Many accounts tell of Tesla being the victim, not just of J.P. Morgan., but also of George Westinghouse. It’s true that Westinghouse signed that dollar-per-horsepower contract with Tesla, from which he might have made millions in royalties on the alternators, motors, and transformers Westinghouse manufactured. It is true that Westinghouse tore up that generous contract. But it is generally unappreciated that J.P. Morgan was standing behind Westinghouse with a pistol to his back, so to speak, for Morgan then was financing Westinghouse, as he financed Tesla, Edison, and other US industrial pioneers. J.P. Morgan was the banking link between New York and the London House of Morgan. Such pipelines of capital from Europe drove the US industrial revolution.

It is true that Tesla’s later work invited suppression, but so many of his inventions did make it into patent. The system tried to delete the Tesla name, but it nevertheless persistently did live on, underground, floating on the inventor’s former fame, until resurrected in the 1980′s, albeit unofficially, and Tesla’s fame has been growing ever since.

Victim? How many who have ventured into the uncertain profession of inventing can claim such good fortune? Given the fate of inventors generally, Tesla, the victim, fared very well. Compare the innumerable inventors whose work goes forever unknown, including so many who did make it into patent, whom you might run across in a subject search, find just as clever as that genius Nikola Tesla, but who will remain forever in obscurity never to be celebrated by any mystique.

The Philadelphia Experiment and Other Folklore

Did Tesla have anything to do with an item of folklore called “The Philadelphia Experiment?” This sci-fi fantasy, widely circulated as serious history, tells of a Navy experiment in making warships invisible. The experiment went haywire, goes the story, dematerializing a vessel in Philadelphia only to have it rematerialize, crew and all, in Norfolk. The Philadelphia Experiment has become a major fixture in the Tesla Mystique. “Tesla technology” is vaguely imputed to the phenomenon, and the story (evidently a tavern yarn that got into book and out of control) has Tesla on board as a technical participant.

The story is set in the year 1944. However, Tesla died in 1943 (January). A review by the Department of Naval Research found no evidence to support the tale, and an independent military historian has searched in vain in all imaginable Naval records for any clue that would corroborate this incredible event (see footnote).

Does Tesla’s peculiar radio technology really have anything to do with another govemment experiment called HAARP? This notorious black project indeed exists on some acrmge in Alaska and is indeed an experimental project in radio, which Tesla invented. But Tesla’s radio is longwave, and HAARP is shortwave, a band of frequencies (3 – 30 megacycles) that Tesla may have never explored and that he assumed were relatively ineffective compared to the low-frequency band (under 500 kilocycles). Also HAARP’s alleged experiment is said to be the stimulating and heating of an ionosphere, which Tesla insisted does not exist and would have absolutely no effect on radio propagation if it did (The True Wireless).

That a Siberian forest near Tungusta rvas leveled in 1908 by a 15-kiloton blast from Tesla’s magnifying transmitter sited at the opposite side of the earth is a bizarre rumor that will not die. Never mind that Tesla at this time had no magnifying transmitter to play with, assuming this machine could conceivably have any such power.

That a super-size Tesla coil secreted underground in Canada accidentally created the summer 2003 East Coast electric-grid blackout is a story that played on Art Bell one night but never gained traction.

“Patents may be the only sound footing
in the mythic world of Tesla.”

UFOs, antigravity? Both are associated with Tesla. But there are just a few speculative notes, and his few aircraft patents use conventional air-flow lift. Some antigravity experimenters employ the Tesla-coil as a high-voltage power supply. Some UFO researchers speculate that flying saucers use dual out-of-phase Tesla coils in the levitation drive.

Compounding the Tesla Mystique is the inventor’s anticipation of technologies unknown to the general public until the 1960′s, like fluidics,
cryogenics, and computer logic
. That Tesla is original and has priority in these arts is assumed by enthusiasts, but confirmation would require extensive searches among patents filed by other inventors of the period. So much innovation gets lost in the patent archives.

Tesla is celebrated for an interesting electric-ray device which he introduced to the press as a death ray. He explored this clever vacuum invention in laboratory prototypes, and drawings exist in the literature, but he never put it into patent. Because of one cavalier utterance by Tesla at a birthday press conference, the death ray was sensationalized by the media and given disproportionate prominence compared to many other newsworthy Tesla inventions that did get into patent but which the press ignored. All of Tesla’s other fascinating work in electric-ray technology is generally ignored and unappreciated even today.

So much fantasy, folklore, and disinformation swim around Tesla that a writer venturing into these waters has difficulty finding any secure footing. This writer, had the good fortune of first encountering Tesla solely in patents (having stumbled upon a complete set that someone had photocopied at the National Archives, prior to these becoming available in book). Surveying the field, even as the literature was developed back then in the early eighties, this writer soon concluded that the patents may be the only sound footing in the slippery mythic world of Tesla.

It’s a good idea for any writer on Tesla to ground himself in some hands-on experimental Tesla circuit-building projects, such as the Tesla coil, before he claims to know his subject. Such grounding can help protect a writer from being consumed by the Mystique. To focus on Tesla’s life instead of on his work opens a door into the Mystique, and a special objectivity and discipline is required. It may be safer to start with the technology and work outward. Almost all of contemporary biography has been hopelessly infected by the Mystique.

What Tesla Really Did

These are the contributions of Tesla to the technology of civlization, to the patent archives, to knowledge: Tesla invented the 60-cycle AC power system that runs civilization today, the dynamos, transformers, motors, regulators and arc lamps. This technology established, along with his own wealth and fame, Tesla went on inventing. A turning point was 1891, when Tesla applied for patent 462,418, a Method and Apparatus for Electrical Conversion and Distribution. His first high-frequency lighting patent, the system was powered by a spark-gap oscillator like that which would drive his Tesla coil. In 1891 began a stream of inventing that produced the Tesla coil, radical non-filament lighting devices, electrotherapy, the magnifying transmitter, wireless power, and radio.

Although much of Tesla’s high-frequency work got into patent, most never went into manufacture, and some which did, like radio, did so under another’s name, like Marconi’s. (Tesla’s priority in radio, after decades of litigation, was finally decided by the US Supreme Court in 1944.)

Few of Tesla’s explorations into ray technology got into patent, and this third phase of his experimental life is under-documented considering its
implications. (See the work of Gerry Vassilatos, if you can find it.)

Tesla’s past includes this misty period in Canada in the 1930′s which may have included accomplishments unsung. A reader in rural Quebec, a ham, wrote to me that locals talk of Tesla constructing a practical wireless utility that successfully transrnitted power for 70 miles from Chambord to LaTuque.

Free energy? Tesla did patent a fundamental space-energy-receiver concept in 1901, Patent 685,957. A space-energy receiver collects ambient energy and converts it to a practical electric output. A very crude space-energy receiver is the solar-electric panel. That Tesla ever pursued space-energy into any working prototlpes is very likely but difficult to document.

Tesla’s nephew wrote an account of a 1931 drive in his uncle’s customized Pierce Arrow, which was powered by an 80 hp AC electric motor that was apparently supplied, not by any massive battery-pack, but by a space-energy receiver. Consisting of a circuit having twelve rectifier vacuum tubes, operating cold-cathode, in a box resembling a radio receiver and measuring about 24 by 12 by 6 inches, the device powered the heavy vehicle for a 50-mile drive at speeds of up to 90 mph. Now this would be the ultimate electric vehicle. As he drove, Tesla boasted to his nephew that his free-energy device could supply the electrical needs of any household with power to spare. Hopefully, the story is true, but there is only this one account to go by. It belongs to a period of Tesla’s life about which not much is known.

“Space energy is evident in a lightning bolt,
but it is a most taboo truth.”

Lurking perhaps in Tesla’s confiscated notes are drawings of practical table-top space-energy power plants. Subsequent inventors have demonstrated similar successful devices (Morey, Plauson, Coler, Hendershot, Stubblefield) but they have received more punishment than reward for their efforts.

Tesla said, “Electric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world’s machinery without the need for coal, oil, gas, or any other fuel.” This truth is a most taboo truth, but it is evident in a lightning bolt (and consider especially the phenomenon of above-cloud lightning).

It’s fashionable to say that the conversion technology required to put free energy into practice is way off in the future or locked up in government files awaiting “disclosure.” Yes, but only if you ignore all of the archived patents and other available literature, which in the aggregate would supply more than enough knowledge to go to the developmental workbench.

If it is true, as Tesla said, that electric energy is everywhere present and can be harnessed for practical use, then energy-scarcity must be all myth. Scarcity, one could argue, is contrived and advertised, not on the basis of any known scientific truth, but upon scientific fictions propagated in order to better control the population. Which is to say that the entire world has been vaccinated wrth a conviction that electric energy is a finite, limited, esoteric resource that must be centrally generated, conserved, controlled, and paid for by the kilowatt hour.

Follow the logic, and you can argue that contrived scarcity is the ruling system’s rule in respect to all energy sources, ether-electric, petroleum, or whatever. Tesla ran afoul of this rule of rules.

The Quantum Tesla

It was inevitable that quantum, which is buzz-word number one in fashionable scientific parlance, would attach itself to buzz-word number two, Tesla. Quantum true-believers are uneasy with Tesla, and think it necessary to invest a huge volume of verbiage and intellectual energy in a misguided effort to reconcile Tesla’s electrics with modern quantum theory. Tesla’s science was premodern, unfortunately, so the quantums must “interpret” Tesla in “correct” modernist terms.

“There is no such thing as an electron.”

Tesla took for granted a science that had served research faithfully for at least 150 years. This Victorian inventor (who was “a man out of time,” according to the Mystique) had no respect for the quantum theory that was becoming fashionable in his own lifetime. Nor did Tesla have any good words for Einstein’s relativity, which he called “A massive deception wrapped in a beautiful mathematical cloak.” Nevertheless, quantum interpreters like to mix in some Einstein with their Tesla. From the same Einsteinian fashion that gives us time-warps and warp-speed comes the likes of: “One way to visualize a Tesla scaler wave is to regard it a pure oscillation of time itself.” What a turn-off is this jargon to the innocent who encounters it in a search for some real knowledge of Tesla technology!

A quantum Tesla? “There is no such thing as an electron,” said Tesla. That item of quantum vocabulary, “electron”, is not to be found anywhere in his writings. Somebody should print this quotation on tee shirts and conduct a campaign to stamp out the fashion that requires such excruciating utterances as: “A Tesla coil is a quantum action device … if the phase of a split quantum particle is changed, its conjugate partner instantly knows …”

Go all the way with the quantum-particle-electron and you’ll eventually get to the glib, buzzy Dr. Kaku, who has his electrons “darting in and out of parallel universes.” (Admit this language into your mind as meaning, and it is your loss.)

Tesla was not a theoretical physicist. Although his writings include some very articulate and suggestive musings in both physics and metaphysics, he asserted no systematic dogma. This is unfortunate, because it left a vacuum to be filled later by quantum-educated Tesla enthusiasts who take Einstein, Star Trek, and Kaku for granted. It becomes another way of suppressing Tesla, by co-option, by obfuscation.

“A tenuity beyond perception.”

Tesla thought science took a wrong turn when it adopted the quantum and Einsteinian. Premodern science is qualitative. Modern science is quantitative. It materializes the immaterial universe, particle-izes it, counts it, mathematizes it, while discounting the qualitative, the immaterial, the subtle, the etheric, the cosmic, the poetic. You may be quantum and Einsteinian, but it is an error to impute any of this constrictive dogma to the expansive, visionary Nikola Tesla.

Tesla came in on the ground floor of experimental particle physics with his exploration of x-rays (co-incident with Roentgen’s explorations). X-rays, he once observed, were “streams of matter.” The vocabulary of particle physics he otherwise avoids. The materialistic philosophy of quantum, which promises to find the universe in a quark, would be completely alien to Tesla’s cosmic view, in which the ether is the universal continuum, immaterial, a field permeating all of matter and all of space, “a tenuity beyond perception.”

Tesla was not straining for a “unified field.” He inherited the concept. The pervasive universal etheric continuum is the medium of all electric phenomena. Charge, potential, polarity, conduction: all can be understood as instances of some stress, or disequilibrium, in the continuum of the ether. Free energy for Tesla would be derived from a disturbed spontaneously energetic continuum, the taboo ether.

Ether theory is unbound by the sacrosanct speed-of-light C-constant of Plank and Einstein, which is used to preclude the possibility of instant action. Ether theory allows for phenomena at “superluminal” velocity. That is, a disturbance of the ether’s equilibrium at one point can create an instantaneous corresponding disturbance elsewhere, like the action of a mechanical lever.

Quantum theory fragmented the continuum into particles, but physics had to call in the clever Dr. Kaku to tie it all back together with “strings.”

A tenuity beyond perception? Way too tenuous, say the modernists, who must materialize this mystery into “a quantum sea of point particles in motion.” This from Moray King, who located his particle motion at a “zero point,” hence “zero-point energy,” or ZPE. It’s amazing how this zippy vocabulary has caught on. Just don’t ask its users to define their terms. Some closet etherists will cloak their theoretical utterances in quantum-speak in order to pass.

Consider the following musing from Tesla regarding the mysterious properties of the human eye: “A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes of nature.” Such an utterance from a proper modern academic is inconceivable. Horrors; it’s almost astrology. However, to the premodernist mind, such reflections were part of science.

Quantum-style interpreters like to mix Tesla with the modernist radio theory of Heinrich Hertz, a theory which Tesla vehemently rejected. To Tesla, wireless was not a light-like, radiation, which is reflective and refractive. Wireless Tesla understood as “compressions and rarefactions of the ether,” an ether disturbance, “like a wave … in the infinite ocean of the medium which pervades all,” he said.

Neo-Herzian Tesla enthusiasts claim that, at Colorado Springs, Tesla’s signals propagated by bouncing about inside of a resonant “Schuman cavity,” presumed to exist between the earth and an ionosphere. What ionosphere? Tesla declared there was no such thing, and, if such existed, it would have no effect on wireless propagation. Tesla believed the earth itself was a giant capacity that could be resonated, like the terminal capacity on his Tesla coils.

Herzians and quantumists should at least apologize to Tesla when they step all over his premodernist science in an attempt to reform it in their own dull terms.

My quantum radiometer. A reader sent to me as a gift a radiometer. (Thank you, Craig.) Tesla called the Crookes radiometer the “most beautiful invention ever created” and a new step in motor technology, “the jewel of motors.”

My gift radiometer is a nice little toy from Tedco, but the box copy, written by a quantum true-believer, attributes the rotation to an atomic heat phenomenon. The dark side of the vanes somehow gets more warmth from the light, thus reacting with “freely moving particles of air,” which are assumed to be residual in the vacuum and entirely responsible for the motion imparted. Thus, “when the atoms strike the dark vanes, they kick away at terrific speed,” smugly declares the box copy.

So if this is a heat phenomenon, why do the vanes turn in the cold light of my LED flashlight? And why do they rotate when I take my CB transceiver hand-unit, hold the rubber-ducky aerial to the bulb, and key up? Also the bulb fills with a mysterious milky luminescence, reminding me of Crookes’s high-voltage vacuum-bulb experiments.

The quantum mind cannot handle a dynamic vacuum and must throw in a few residual atomic particles to get some action. Leave it to the quantum believer to destroy a powerful mystery with some stupid materialistic explanation. Also, the box copy says simple “radiometer”, giving no credit anywhere to Sir William Crookes, a man whose rich premodernist work has apparently been forgotten by quantum true-believers.

As an antidote, I dig up a 1996 article about the radiometer from “The Journal of Borderland Sciences” which attributes rotation to an energetic component of light and of electric rays that is black radiance. Crookes observed the phenomenon in the mysterious dark spaces that appeared in his electrified tubes and also in the spark streamers from Tesla’s coils. The quantum believer must materialize dark radiance as “dark matter” or “black holes.” The radiometer, like the electrified Crookes tube, “was designed to peer into astral space beyond the inertial walls,” says the Borderlands writer, who reports that Crookes built a huge demonstration radiometer, electrified it with Tesla currents, and inside one could actually see the dark space pushing the vanes around, until speed resolved the rotor into a whirling darkness.

Etheric science is expansive, cosmic, metaphysical, spiritual, and way more fun than quantum, which is myopic, submicroscopic, matertalistic, atheistic, prosaic, and dull.

The challenge to the Tesla biographer is to transcend the great fog of fashionable folklore obscuring his subject. The challenge to the Tesla physicist is to transcend fashionable theory and to submerge himself in Tesla’s physics, which, fashionable or not, is an occult ether physics. To comprehend Tesla one must dare to cross over into the fringe.

What is the Ionospheric Research Instrument?

Much concern has recently been focused upon the military project known as HAARP, a technological monstrosity which for some researchers seemingly resists all serious attempts at analyzing its true purpose. By its many morbid conspiratorial devotees, HAARP has been called the very apex of Twentieth Century military technology. Familiarity with technologies such as HAARP does not mean a simple survey of available conspiracy type publications. The recent release of military statements, largely disseminated to intellectual curiosity seekers through the INTERNET, is a thorough and full disclosure of the technology. Of course, one will read through these with a watchful eye. Nevertheless, the HAARP photographs reveal a startling and contradictory evidence to statements which habitually surround the topic. HAARP is a secret project, but it has nothing to do with those applications recently described in a, popular bestseller. While discussing aspects of the scientific hardware, which have not to my knowledge been elucidated, my single most important theme focuses attention upon the deeply entrenched directives ruling the financial world.

Incomplete understanding has provoked such degrees of fear that many name HAARP as the very tool by which the world will be destroyed. Excessive sentiments of this kind evidence a growing hopelessness. Amid a world filled with the curious apathy which closely shadows affluence, there exist those whose only joy is found in morbid inspections of doom. Retrospective study reveals that previous episodes of the tumultuous Twentieth Century have released similar openly fearful expressions. Each new technological expression has had its attendant commentary of doom. The recent proliferation of fear and hysteria is perhaps the externalization of so many internal conflicts seeking expression. It is peculiar that, in so many similar historic episodes, fear of doom attaches itself so readily and so deceptively on the works of technology rather than on their true source. Technology is the projection of deeper principles. As regards the negative aspects of human consciousness, it is always easier to point blame at something external.

A populace whose innermost awarenesses are just being aroused to seek personal meaning comprise a formidable host. A society whose government has so striven to remove the natural drive for personal expression is now confronted with an army of citizens who operate in the intellectual spheres. The civilian recognizes why government actions are so ruthless. Those who dictate government policies are not politicians at all, they are old dynastic personalities. The super-privileged rule the land, government obeys their dictations to the stroke. Military is employed to enforce the commands which the money holders demand. Civilians become victims of merciless military actions when the truth is out. It is important for us to understand the restructured nature of our republic. Having been suborned to operate as a bureaucracy for the dictates of a few, we have been prevented from realizing the natural development of discovery and wonder, the providential gifts. Those who enjoy super privilege do so only at the expense of the entire populace. The dream of one or two becomes the servitude of one or two hundred million.

ANSWERS

The HAARP array from the NE corner.

How proficient are the writers of conspiracy themes? Hysteria is the chaos of ignorance. HAARP and its other brethren projects are not recent developments. They are the most recent representatives in a research effort whose history stretches out before the last Century. Before we presume to dissect and interpret HAARP, we require historical familiarity with the documented hardware, phenomena, and original rationale for the deployment of these projects. Containing statements and opinions which are mutually contradictory, technical conspiracy books are never the scientific reports which they so profess. They are hastily written, poorly organized, insufficiently researched, thematically underdeveloped, and consistently overpriced.

As a novel means for supplying any and every possible answer for a price, conspiracy writers have directed a new publications initiative. The typical conspiracy writer supplies an insufficient emollient to a painful social wound. People who ask questions want real answers. The confusion of fragmented facts presented in such publications does satisfy those whose inner-most need is contextual meaning. The unfortunate absence of such concise presentations becomes the lucrative potential of the new genre, as conspiracy writers keep their over-inflated texts moving through distributors.

One reads through several examples of these texts with a sense of growing amusement. Each new example verifies the often repeated observation that such books are made to be sold, not to convey facts. Filled as they are with turbid convolutions and nightmarish scenarios, this new publications assault has succeeded only in promoting a confused consciousness of concern. The factual fragments comprising conspiracy books, cassettes, or videos are designed to bait the reader into forming personal conclusions. These almost invariably satisfy the personal needs of readers who are actively seeking a conspiracy. The writers of these books carry no burden of proof. Theirs is the role of provocateur, irresponsible activators and promoters of social malaise without solution.

We are the unwitting witnesses of a rare manifestation which has not made its appearance since the period following World War II. Of the hysteria which has worked its way throughout our contemporary society, no undercurrents seem more energized than those which find nightmarish delight in uncovering the possible “monsters in the machines”. The deeper implications of these abnormal sublimations stir thoughts of the destructive principle in human consciousness, that which delights in seeking horrors. But what would so invert the normal life-seeking drives in social consciousness? The answer to this penetrating question exposes the workings of human consciousness both in alienating and being alienated. The principle which has no regard for human life is familiar to working class people alone.

DIVORCE

Those who very clearly sense the divorce between military and citizenry know that military intentions do not include the best interest of the citizen. Alienation, separation, rejection, divorcement. These are the real foundations from which social fears emerge. The social fears remain latent, mere undercurrents and suspicions seeking a focal point. Distrust finds its vent when authority demonstrates its adamant rejection of extraordinary citizens. Technology often becomes the rip in the walls between social id and social conscience. The instability through which suspicion becomes conspiratorial hysteria can be the slightest imposture or gesture on the part of an authority figure. When once society has suspected its government, the hysteria rages in full.

Are there reasonable sources of social anger in this regard? The arrogant and often hostile separation existing between government, military, and civilian sectors is forever brushed aside as “the preservation of national security”. Maintaining certain secrets from the populace is a token not well received by an intellectual population. In this continual removal of knowledge from a supposed liberated society, government is demonstrating broken trust. Here we find the origins of social suspicion. When a military organization necessarily requires secrecy, personal alienations magnify the latent social fears. Nevertheless, it is hilarious to discover what government agencies consider to be threatening secrets. One perusal of the patent collection will prove this to anyone.

SECRETS

Can we penetrate the secrecy? Can we indeed find answers to the HAARP “problem”? There are no secrets. Technological history is replete with instances of multiple simultaneous discoveries. The intelligence networks run over one another. Publications are instantaneous. But this statement does not refer to electronic mail. The history of science proves that ideas literally flow through space. Similar intense minds successfully communicate at unfathomable deep levels. What is learned in one laboratory soon appears spontaneously in many others. Study the literature and see this phenomenon repeated countless times. In this continual manifestation of intellectual fusion, only the sensitives have value. Those who demand and those who direct are helpless observers of processes which reveal the true heart of humanity. Those who exacerbate separations among societies are only forestalling their own obsolescence. In truth, there are no restrictions, no boundaries to the flow of such consciousness. Secrets cannot be kept. One can no more control the avalanche developments of technology than one can control the ocean. The absence of total secrecy is perhaps then the greatest secret.

Even the military projects which have so powerfully focused the writers of conspiracy essays have recently begun to “make utterance”. The recent release of “full disclosures” by the military is an equally curious modem manifestation. The great furor which HAARP has released has been successful enough to force military statements. One now finds that the military itself is declassifying patents and articles pertinent to the HAARP Project, an unprecedented willingness to quench the social spotlights which they have drawn. Why are they so willing in this opened disclosure policy? What are they trying to protect? And on whose behalf are they making these apologetic campaigns? Does the disclosure of hard data signal both the obsolescence of that data and the possession of superior technology?

GAMES

The superficial world game is a vain exercise of Control itself, of Regulation. The controllers wish to maintain their poise and power over the populace. This is nothing new. Rome saw endless such struggles, and is no more. There are those who comprehend evidence of deliberate design in the adamant and ludicrous behavior of military against citizenry. One asks the motive behind such a poise. What agent is capable of demanding and establishing such a rift? There are but two principalities which rule the workings of the world. Of the nation. Control and Money. Domination, rule. Extending the permeating alienation which has so thoroughly characterized our time, one will always find grasping hands of greed at work.

Excessive control, excessive regulation indicates a demise of social integrity which no military might, however fascistic and demanding, can alter or change. Ideas remain. Ideas and Ideals. They are visitors, messages from a deeper reality. American Military has traditionally overestimated its own worth and misperceived its role. In truth, military is the workhorse of the Multinationals and nothing more. It is certainly not the right hand of Liberty with which the poster propaganda campaigns puts forth. Military has been, and will remain nothing more than the strong arm of American Big Business. Secret military projects do not begin in the military at all. Secret military projects begin in the boardrooms of the business world. These are the origins of the covert. Here we ind those who would control our destinies and those of our children for generations. Having developed systems for controlling the systems, multinationals rule by the scratch of a pen stroke. Money threatens depression, and the Laws legally fulfill the intent.

Business rules science and industry. Business rules military. Business rules government. One protocol rules all the others. Civilians find themselves under the most direct authorities, above which there exists a gantry of superior commanders. Imperialistic designs desire the acquisition of foreign resources. Outright war is politically impossible unless reasonably overt excuses exist. In the absence of these, conditions must be created. Central Intelligence “stimulate” numerous controlled circumstances. These are contrived to divert attention away from certain activities. Study the pattens whereby hollow regimes appear in resource-bordering nations. The threat of war is suddenly reported. Some new dictator has “risen to power”, the latest in a series of synthetic madmen. The president is concerned, and the Senate votes unanimously. Military forces swoop in, and presto! Nightly News reports a new victory for American troops. Props and setups all. The realistic result of these imperialistic ventures is that citizens pay for the expended weapons, while Big Business acquires a copper mine, an oil field, a uranium supply.

My advice to conspiracy writers is this: do your research better. Find out what resources every US occupied nation contains. And who did the dirty work? Military. But Military initiates nothing. Business initiates. Military is merely an effective and dictatorial agency for driving and directing otherwise disoriented academic researchers toward the achievement of realistic goals. When Business wants a job done, Military researchers devise means for achieving those goals. Military force executes commands which begin in private liaisons among bankers. Military “advisement” simply insures that research goals are achieved within the prerequisite time period. Those who accuse the Military of engaging in covert operations know nothing of the fundamental facts concerning a subject of which they claim such superior insight; Military takes its orders from the cliched frail white business men in brown round toed shoes, whose dispassionate gazes smack of old American families.

MODUS OPERANDI

Historic examination of American policies reveals that the demands of a very few cartels consistently direct these superior commands. Manipulative control of military supremacy has continually achieved the questionable personal ends of the few. Keeping ahead of one’s adversaries gives technology the notion that government loves science. The lie is total. Cartels want those uranium mines in Africa, so military gets the funding to develop all sorts of new death devices for “testing”. But do not be deceived, throughout the process we observe that military is not in the position of initiation.

The military does not engage in such projects unless under superior command. The pure love of science or the pleasure of acquiring scientific data is not in their command-obedient agenda. For the military to desist from the study and development of new weaponry, a superior command of exceedingly high priority must be in effect. Military does nothing on its own, and cannot. After the governments themselves bow in homage to superior capital, military is the slave of cartels. Business directs. Business gives the orders. The Government issues commands. The Military executes.

When the battle smoke clears, medals are clipped on old Generals and Big Business lights up cigars all around the boardroom table where it all began. To achieve the various objectives which business demands, ever newer “measures and countermeasures” have been steadily developed since the Cold War. Non-nuclear weapons packages and other cunning technologies have continually facilitated various deceptions, conditions, and terminations which ordinary citizens fail to recognize as deliberate military actions. In brief, the military is well stocked with a reserve of surprising weapons and communications systems which enable the rapid acquisition of foreign resources when commanded.

We must also look behind the imperialistic forays in order to comprehend the rationale for the numerous little exercises which have so colorfully flooded our television screens for the past thirty years. The desire for foreign resources is no blind ambition. The desire for foreign resources is always predicated on the demands of new ventures. Wars are fought on many battlefronts. The most decisive wars are fought in study, where new ideas emerge. A single idea can alter the course of centuries. And none know when or where such an event may occur. While the private military laboratories burst with unsuspected new technologies, monies for these “projects” arrive in unending rivers from demanding multinational bankers.

HAARP

Cartels employ active research staffs to scope the science world for potentially destabilizing expressions and designs. While unable to stop the progressive emergence of such inspirations, they can and do manage the efficient eradication of perceived threats. Scholars and patent bibliographers well know that working technologies, now well beyond their third stage of development, have already rendered the much-discussed “covert” military technologies obsolescent. No single statement can be more important than this one. In rarely mentioned reports, military research successfully developed sophisticated ray-beam systems which exceed the optical laser in coherent penetrability and lethal power.

NASA, as a military adjunct organization, has continually enabled and maintained deployment of a worldwide military satellite exchange. The heavy schedule of NASA Space Shuttle launches evidenced the deployment of highly secretive military packages in predetermined orbits throughout its decade long history. These systems have replaced radiowave technology in both communications and reconnaissance operations. Coupled with space technologies, these optical and paraoptical technologies now best represent the true and classified military state of the art. For this reason it is strongly believed that ELF projects such as SEAFARER will shortly he decommissioned. Radiowave technology has been rendered obsolescent by better and more dependable technologies, the nature of which has never been discussed in the open. I have retrieved the patents which prove my assertions.

In this confusion is discovered the inestimable value of conspiracy writers to military security. Declassified military patents signal the deploying of complete highly advanced systems. Military declassification is a diversion for the intellectuals who are easily fascinated by technological baubles. Remember, the modus operandi are completely opposed. The military is not intrigued or concerned with the wonders of nature! But why was the military so absolutely empowered to develop superweapons at all? Both during and after World War II, certain multinationals sought security in trade. Capitalistic security. For this reason alone, Allied military was given the wherewithal to develop weaponry. When Japan threatened Pacific free trade, an invincible weapon was sought. Funds for the Manhattan Project did not come from the American tax-payer. The Government was already in debt to the Federal Bank lenders. Cash flow for this weaponry came from privateers. The Atomic Energy Commission managed the ancillary Industry on behalf of the original investors. This conglomerate is also reaching its logical conclusion, a startling outcome which we will shortly discuss. Nevertheless, the many levels in which multinational organizations seemingly coexist reveals that they themselves are in devious competitions.

Many continually cite Communism as the trigger for the rapid proliferation of nuclear stockpiles. Communism only threatened capitalists who were themselves divorced from the innermost circles of multinational business. Communism was not an accidental revolution. Neither was it an economic “experiment”, as some have suggested. Communism was a business weapon, aimed at those who were not invested. Communism was a privately owned system which used the totalitarian government as a permanent deterrent to all other potential investors. The central mystery figure in this high level domination was Armand Hamer, whose continual private inspections of both Soviet Government and Industry are unquestionably financial. Hamer reaped unmentionable capital profits from Soviet Industries, while consorting with Allied cartels.

World business is a game of simple causes and effects. The only variables are those which technology brings into the game. Besides these new variables, human nature and human reactions remain unaltered throughout history. “Outsider” cartels recognized the inherent weakness in the otherwise dominating strong-hold which Hamer had devised and executed. Fixed in a political arena, it was possible to threaten that fortress with the new weaponry. The mere suggestion that outsiders could destroy the totalitarian “arrangement” would perhaps sufficiently serve to bring Hamer into dialogue. Hamer himself was the only individual permitted to enter Moscow airspace without question. Met by personal limousine, Hamer was secretly escorted to his Russian estate, a huge property maintained in his absence by a privately hired workforce. When he so desired, Soviet military brass and the Premier himself would arrive at the estate. Clearly, from its inception Hamer was underwriting the Soviet regime.

Toward breaking this strategy of domination, the numerous outsider cartels directed the unprecedented deployment of atomic weaponry. When the initial threat was matched with a Soviet duplicate of atomic weaponry, the game was locked in “cheque”. Seeing that this maneuver did not succeed in bringing Hamer to the consortium, the AEC was directed toward developing more powerful weaponry. Thermonuclear devices were the frightening result, an unexpected and horrifying outcome of the unleashed scientific consortium. There being no theoretical limit to the effective destructive extent of such weaponry, the development and deployment of novel weapons became a prime objective throughout the “Cold War”. In the face of “Mutual Assured Destruction” scenarios, priority was eventually revised in the development of tactical weapons which permitted post-war occupation. Neutron bombs were tested to satisfaction during this time period, a small spin off of patented devices whose descriptions have been recently unearthed.

RUMORS

The unfortunate mention of a few misunderstood military technologies has flooded society with conspiratorial issues, suspicions and rumors having no real foundation. In such a fear-ruled atmosphere there can be no true objectivity, no serious scientific discussion. In order to allay the fundamental fears which have been incited by all too numerous and over enthused writers, this article on HAARP has been composed. What we require is factual clarification.

Patent retrieval requires historical scope, otherwise an over-excited response will produce convoluted misinterpretations. This is precisely what has happened in discussing HAARP. Therefore, a brief summary of military achievements in the high-tech realm may be fitting, The large-scale demonstrations of plutonium and hydrogen bombs brought the discovery of a new and unexpected phenomenon. Electromagnetic Pulse, or EMP phenomena, became the focal point of intense military interest. Remember who was directing the military progress in these endeavors. Though we have deep interests in the natural phenomena which attended such experimentation, please recall the patronage behind these tests.

The EMP phenomenon suggested a new weapons potential which could be used in a limited strike scenario. The technique would not require large yield nuclear weapons, and seemed a plausible route to pursue. Stimulating a powerful and decisively destructive EMP across any military opposition, EMP’s reaching several thousand amperes were powerful and penetrating enough to bum out electronics packages and power grids in a single instant. EMP potentials were derived from ground induced ring currents beneath the rising plasma of any small nuclear blast. The essential feature was that EMPs could not be blocked. In this, military recognized a new weaponry.

Military researchers quickly developed controlled EMP devices and techniques throughout the years between 1960 and 1970, the details of which are given in my forthcoming book, “Secrets of Cold War Technology – Project HAARP and Beyond”. Special techniques for enhancing EMP action were investigated. Military deployed new non-nuclear devices in identical research themes, dispersing ionizable chemicals through high aerial detonations. Experiments performed with these artificial plasma clouds were designed to test a variety of weapons objectives. These techniques were discarded with the development and deployment of satellites, ineffective “over the horizon” and other such “back-scatter” RADAR techniques being replaced by optical reconnaissance.

Discovering that aerial plasma clouds could destroy short-wave reception for hours and days if necessary, military experimenters experimented with ionospheric “heaters” for a time. These were found capable of delivering controlled shortwave blackouts for sustained periods. Military frowned upon the monstrous station required in supporting such techniques. As weapons, their excessive expense and size rendered them easy “first strike” targets. These too fell into obsolescent disuse with the deployment of several satellite deployed beam weapons. During the SDI period, military was given command to launch weapons-ready orbital platforms, and deployed surveillance and reconnaissance satellites in a continual volley of private missile launches.

Please recognize that the technical bibliographic reservoir gives us the only reasonable basis for assessing and evaluating projects such as HAARP. Technological developments of this magnitude are attended by a great host of research reports and ancillary experimental proceedings. Historically released publications represent those thousands who have had empirical knowledge of real equipment. The difficulty of tampering with such a densified bibliography is inestimable. Deliberate eradication of such bibliographies by intelligence agencies has never been completely successful, the indolence and relative apathy of the populace being a dependable enough deterrent to possible security leaks.

No single intelligence agency can exercise manipulations to the degree that every single report may be altered or eradicated. Freedom of expression rules in the older bibliographies, provided you are able to yet obtain them at all, It is through the bibliographic manifold of visionary tunnels that the astute analyst discerns the razor edge of truth. In addition, the examination of numerous military funded technical reports always places the private analyst on alert. Those agencies who prepare and publish their official reports are as dubious as those who compile conspiracy theories. And writers who doubt both groups are held opened to the very same accusations! Seeking the balance, one strikes a curious pose. Tethered on a jeweled pivot between military releases and conspiracy theories, one seeks a clear image of sunlight in a hall of mirrors. But one fact is clear and remains. All publications serve as markers ad points on which we may focus discussion. In this, we have a lever which can indeed move the world of secrecy.

Having anticipated the social turbulence which surrounds projects such as HAARP, military journalists have been hard a work carefully selecting certain hard technical data for publication. Hundreds of declassified pages have been dispatched through the INTERNET. It is a simple and effective means for powerfully silencing potentially irascible intellectuals. Curiously it is the military who are again in position to step in and act as the “voice of reason”. Yes, amid the oceans of fear and suspicion which highly classified projects have stimulated, the military itself emerging as the very epitome of honesty and beneficent authority. The military prose writers have succeeded in using the social paranoia which they themselves have triggered to their own best advantage.

But the real direction toward which military advisement has progressed is no hideous covert plot to mind-manipulate the nation. What lies at the root of HAARP is a mundane business arrangement which the all too elaborate paranoia has typically and completely misinterpreted. The great and monstrous fear which has been evoked among the intellectuals actually centers around a business foray which the military has been commanded to develop by executive command. It is therefore in this light that we will unravel the HAARP issue. What conspiratorialists so fear and suspect is delusional. Hysteria is not the atmosphere proper to the deliberation and extrication of facts. Hysteria blocks the pursuit of clear thinking. HAARP is about Power, Control, and Money. Nothing more. One must break through the fear which conspiratorialists are weaving. Get the facts.

Secrets of Cold War Technology: Project HAARP and Beyond

The death knell has struck. Wave Radio is dead. How have 70 years of Military Research succeeded in producing a completely new and superior communications technology? Radio History gives a stranger walk than paranoid writers ever tell! While citizens were watching television, military research was directed to create an amazing radiation technology far in advance of any system known. Currently and routinely utilized, it has remained a well guarded “open secret” for decades. Discover why is it obvious that neither military nor private developers have yet successfully duplicated Tesla technology.

  • Who was John Hettinger, and how were his early beam power systems modified through radar technology into ray beam weapons?
  • What was Project Argus? Project Teak? Project Orange? Learn about the frightful characteristics of EMP phenomena, and how these were employed in a strange and deadly technology. Why was a High Command request to employ EMP weaponry in the recent Gulf War denied?
  • Not a weapon, not a psychotronics system, not a weather modifier, why is HAARP NOT the program which so many have claimed? Why can the IRI never achieve the objectives cited by a few authors? Learn about the real motivations so powerfully at work in Conspiracy Writers, and why they are not equipped to crack the secret of HAARP. Why are the Eastlund Patents not relevant to HAARP, and why has Raytheon continued to collect every HAARP relevant patent for several years? What is the “merchandise” which HAARP promises to yield?
  • How were X-Rays used to detect underground movements? How were Gamma Rays routinely used in communicating from submarines to command headquarters via military satellites?

Facts quell hysteria, but Truth is stranger than fiction. Want the answers? This complete technical history of military projects will show the development of every relevant project preceding and exceeding HAARP. Only the facts. No hysteria. Complete with communications and weapons patent citations, this book will forever change your view of world events and technology.

HISTORICAL MYTHS & TRUTHS

“The Declaration is a masterpiece of propaganda…”
Howard Mumford Jones
Lowell Professor Emeritus, Harvard

The Uranus-Neptune conjunctions of 1993 marked the beginning of a new era. The entire globe now stands on the verge of a New World Order – political, spiritual and astrological. Those convictions all of us hold most dear are not immune to the quantum leaps of consciousness inspiring the billions of humanity worldwide.

In our nation, the societal parent role is assumed by teachers and historians. As individual adult, we all share the same deep fears of abandoning our cultural past that we experience when leaving our parents. If a majority of a generation fear to take the plunge and renew their own mythology, cultural amnesia may ensue. The societal parent tapes of the previous generations may then develop into a cultural trance that hypnotized the next generation. The July Fourth myth was the foundation stone for generations of Americans during the 19th and 20th centuries. As Communism was demystified by Uranus (revolutionary) and Neptune (ideals) in Capricorn (the establishment history), so must Capitalism be reexamined. As Lenin was demystified, so must George Washington be reborn in the light of factual history. Let us not forget that amnesia is a hypnotic state, induced by a mental suggestion most often originating from outside the ego consciousness of the subject. Those in positions of institutional authority within a society are its hypnotists. It is up to the supra-conscious moral impulses of the individual citizens who comprise the forthcoming generations to assume the responsibility of self-dehypnotization. Every human soul is mythological in its unconscious state of awareness. The questions, therefore, are not whether “to mythologize or not to mythologize,” but rather “which mythologies” and “how will they be created and transmitted.”

In the 1940′s, Manly Palmer Hall revived Ebenezer Sibly’s astrological chart cast for the late afternoon of July 4, 1776. Although he was a contemporary of the founding fathers, it has not been demonstrated that Sibly’s information source was any other than the official published version of the Declaration and the comments of Thomas Jefferson, its primary author.

SECRET JOURNALS

The testimony of Thomas Jefferson is powerful, and yet as early as 1884, Mellen Chamberlain proved that Jefferson (as well as John Adams and Benjamin Franklin) was inaccurate in his recall of the events surrounding the Declaration. By the mid-1940′s, Chamberlain’s conclusions were universally accepted by historians. Chamberlain was the first person to examine the original manuscript minutes of the Journals of Congress, otherwise known as the Secret Journals. On July 19, 1776, they stated, “Ordered that the Declaration passed on the 4th be fairly engrossed on parchment with the title and style of ‘The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America.’” An entry on August 2 stated: “The Declaration of Independence being engrossed and compared at the table was signed by the members.”

THE COVER-UP

When Congress published the public Journals, it purposely transferred the July 19 and August 2 entries to July 4 in order to cover up the fact that the vote for independence was not unanimous and the declaration was not signed in the heat of an all-consuming patriotic passion. Yes, it was politics as usual — even back then with our own Founding Dads! Paul Leicester Ford, editor of The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, openly acknowledged that the published journal was “fabricated.” After examining Jefferson’s “Notes,” Hazelton announced that they had been written at one sitting sometime after Jefferson retired from Congress in September 1776. Charles Warren believes that Jefferson relied on the official published journal of Congress to jog his memory, and was unknowingly led onto the path of error. One wonders how a brilliant mind like Jefferson’s could think the eloquent phraseologies of unalienable rights in one moment and then instantly forget the chronology of their acceptance and approval by Congress. What’s even more suspicious is that John Adams and Benjamin Franklin also gave similar public testimonies about a July 4th signing. Privately, however, John Adams had written a letter on July 9, 1776 stating: “as soon as an American seal is prepared, I conjecture the Declaration will be signed by all the members.” How could the three brightest minds in America forget the actual events surrounding Independence, with each making the same error? Theoretically it is possible that Adams and Franklin were also led astray by the published Journals, but it is most unlikely. Their motive in altering the records was to make it appear to the public that the motion was adopted unanimously and without hesitation. Politically, what better action could be taken to assure public support for the venture? It is reminiscent of televised political convention where a motion wins by a large majority and is then ramrodded through to a unanimous vote by the party chairman. Years later, Jefferson commented that the Founding Fathers’ intended purpose for the Declaration was as “an appeal to the tribunal of the world.” In other words, as Garry Wills so aptly put it, “the Declaration… was not a legislative instrument . . . it was a propaganda overture, addressed primarily to France.”

THE MEDIA IMAGE

July Fourth was, in fact, made into one of the major media opportunities of the 18th century. The renowned painter, John Trumbull, became a key player in moving the minds of the masses. Photo opportunities were unheard of in those days; paintings were the photographs of the 18th century, and Trumbull was aware of their media impact. He knew how they remained etched in the American collective unconscious. He recreated the signing of the Declaration of Independence out of his imagination, exactly as he would have liked it to be. Trumbull was determined to perpetuate the myth of the Fourth of July for posterity. As we already learned, the signing of the Declaration occurred August 2, or more accurately, that’s when it began. Fifty delegates signed on August 2, one on August 27, three on September 4, one on November 19, and the final signer, Thomas McKean, waited until 1781. By portraying all the eventual signers at one meeting, Trumbull reduced historical truth to obscurity and gave birth to a great American myth. It is no coincidence that Thomas Jefferson was intimately connected with the creation of Trumbull’s painting. While Trumbull was visiting him in Paris, Jefferson proposed that he paint the Declaration and the proceeded to sketch the layout of the main hall as he remembered it. Using Jefferson’s sketch, John Trumbull drew the layout for his masterpiece, which he completed in 1819, 43 years after 1776.

FEARLESS DADS?

The teaching of the Founding Fathers’ fearlessness is also coming into question nowadays. Popular belief assumed that the American people knew the names of the signers when the Declaration was made public. The fact, however, is that only the signatures of John Hancock, President of Congress, and Charles Thomson, Secretary, were inscribed. The delegates withheld their names from the public for another live months after the August 2 signing because, if independence failed, their treason to the Crown might result in death. Not until after Washington’s victory at the Battle of Trenton were the signers willing to go public!

CONCLUSION

The proponents of the July Fourth chart have Jefferson as their main witness, and yet they cannot rely on his testimony. His claim that the Declaration was signed on the Fourth is fictitious, along with the late afternoon time. The fact that the Fourth of July was the climactic moment of Independence is a myth; all the Founders did was tidy up the wording and stoically approve an articulate press release.

In actual fact, the Fourth of July is one of the more insignificant dates in American history! Daniel Boorstin claims that the Fourth of July’s “commonly assigned significance is a mystery that may never be solved.” Not until the highly coincidental, dual deaths of John Adams and Jefferson on July 4, 1826, did the date become immortalized. Garry Wills writes: “The first American histories of the Revolution did not find the Declaration an important part of the process . . . Detweiler thinks it did not become a generally accepted ‘national charter’ till after the War of 1812.”

On July 4, 1776, John Adams wrote home to his wife: “The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival.” On the evening of July 2, The Pennsylvania Evening Post stated: “This Day the Continental Congress declared the United Colonies Free and Independent States.” This was the first announcement that publicly declared independence, and it proves that July 2 was the climactic turning point of history. This day marks the moment that the Founding Fathers conceived a united States of America and (to prove the point) spelled its future name with a small letter “u”. This first Declaration of Independence was actually the twinkle in daddy’s eye, not the moment of the infant’s first cry.

ONE PEOPLE

Almost everyone has an opinion about the birth date of the United States, and rightfully so. Even the Founding Fathers had opinions — if only we could read their minds. It’s important for all of us to realize that today, due to the vast quantity of firsthand documentation now becoming available, we can do just that! The following research is based on the contemporary vantage point of the Founding Fathers themselves; it seeks to unravel their opinions and attitudes. The primary sources include rarely published, well-documented quotations extracted from their writings and that of their contemporaries. Secondary sources are the writings of distinguished historians, experts in their specialized fields of study. This approach eliminates subjective speculation two centuries after the fact, allowing us to regain a real time perspective of late 18th century America.

THE NATION’S BIRTH

“The child Congress has been big with, these two years past, is at last brought forth . . . I fear it will by several Legislatures be thought a little deformed, – you will think it a Monster.”

Cornelius Harnett to Thomas Burke
November 13, 1777

Richard Henry Lee of Virginia boldly addressed Congress in the summer of ’76, putting forth a radical resolution on June 7 that called for independence from England and a plan of confederation, although the latter fact is commonly ignored. Both proposals were incorporated into this single resolution and simultaneously offered to Congress. Beginning in the nineteenth century, emphasis was placed on the dramatic act of separation that initiated the entire sequence of revolutionary events. Of course this makes for more exciting history lessons at school, but ultimately it detracts from the essential fact that in the minds of the Continental Congress such an emphasis would be misplaced.

Articles of Confederation - title page

On June 11-12, 1776, in accordance with the Lee Resolution, Congress created two committees. The first was headed by Thomas Jefferson and was to prepare a statement of independence. The second was headed by John Dickinson and was to draft a workable plan of union. Exactly one month later the Dickinson committee presented its report to Congress bearing the title “Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union.” The ink that inscripted the Declaration had been dry a mere week.

It becomes immediately obvious that from the very beginning, it was the intention of the founding fathers to politically separate the individual states from England and then form a nation. The Articles of Confederation took their final form after sixteen months of soul searching and interrupted negotiations. They represented the first institutionalization of that unique American contribution to political science – federalism, the principle of divided sovereignty. Although the Confederation’s national government did not receive the wider, centralized power base later delegated in the U.S. Constitution, it retained many of the powers of a modern nation (regulating weights and measure, creating post offices, borrowing and minting money, directing foreign affairs and declaring war / making peace, building and equipping a navy).

When the Constitutional Convention assembled in Philadelphia in 1878, the delegates were greatly influenced by Article IV of the Articles, absorbing much of its language into the Constitution’s fourth article. Article IV is often called the “federalizing article” because it defines the relationship among the states, and between the state and national governments.

Articles of Confederation

“The free inhabitants of each of these states… shall be entitled to all priveleges and immunities of free citizens in the several states…”

“Full faith and credit shall be given in each of these states to the records, acts and judicial proceeding of the courts and magistrates of every other state.”

“If any Person guilty of or charged with treason, felony, or other high misdemeanor in any state, shall flee from justice, and be found in any of the United States, he shall upon demand of the Governor or executive power, of the state from which he fled, he delivered up and removed to the state having jurisdiction of his offence.”

Constitution

“The Citizens of each state shall be entitled to all priveleges and immunities of Citizens in the several states.”

“Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state.”

“A person charged in any state with treas on, felony, or other crime, from justice, and be found in another state, shall on demand of the executive authority of the state from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the state having jurisdiction of the crime.”

November 15, 1777 is, therefore, that isolated moment in history when the deal was made which established the United States of America. A new institution of federalism was initiated on the stage of world history. This is not the opinion of the author nor any other citizen of the 20th century. Instead it is the opinion of one of the prominent (but lesser known) founding fathers, Cornelius Harnett (see quotation above). Here was a man present on the stage of American history – at its very center. Here are the private written words of a contemporary Founding Father who was intimately involved in the drama of a renegade Congress running from its enemy while it debated the Articles sentence by sentence. Like a quantum leap revisited from the turning point of America’s destiny, the thought of Cornelius Harnett come back to haunt us.

From September 5, 1774, the Continental Congress had been serving as a provisional government without the legal sanction of a constitution. Until it was given proper authority by the states, the Continental Congress had been powerless to establish a permanent government.

Article One stated: “The Stile of this confederacy shall be The United States of America.” Now the newborn’s name began with a capital “U” instead of the small “u” it had been granted by the original heading of the Declaration of Independence. The well-publicized document of July 4, 1776 referred only to “the thirteen united States of America.” As Librarian of Congress Emeritus, Daniel Boorstin, put it, “the uncertainties of the situation were expressed in the fact that the word ‘united’ . . . was treated as a mere adjective rather than as part of the proper noun.” The Founding Father “used a small ‘u’ for united because it was still only a hope.”

Not until after the victory of the Second Battle of Saratoga on October 7, 1777 were the Founding Fathers confident enough to establish a permanent government, including the capitalized “United” as part of its legally sanctioned title. Newborn nations are just like infants — the moment of birth normally coincides with the receiving of a name!

THE ACT OF CONCEPTION

The approval of the Declaration of Independence is commonly accepted as the moment of the United Stats’ birth. In actual fact, the thirteen colonies were declaring their independence from each other as well as from England:

These united colonies are, and of right out to be, free and independent states; … as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do.

Clearly, this document was not one of permanent union; instead, it declared that each colony had complete sovereignty over its own affairs. These new states united as allies against England in order to defend their own individual freedoms. John Adams wrote: “there have been in fact thirteen revolutions, for that number of established governments were overthrown and as many new ones erected.”

Daniel Boorstin comments: “Independence had created not one nation but thirteen. At the time of the Declaration of Independence when John Adams spoke of ‘my country,” he meant Massachusetts Bay, and Thomas Jefferson meant Virginia.”

The fact of the matter is that not one country, but thirteen new sovereign entities (nations) came into existence with the unanimous acceptance of the Declaration of Independence on July 19, 1776. Originally, each of the thirteen newly created mini-nations chose to establish its own private constitution before entertaining the dreadful thought of creating any kind of centralized government at all. It had been a simple matter to revolt against the King of England in comparison to the highly complex task of bringing thirteen individualized “ego-states” into any form of union. The very reason they had just broken loose from their Motherland was to be free from any form of higher power whatsoever. The level of statesmanship required to succeed with this second phase of the revolutionary experiment was much greater than that of the preliminary independence phase. Its all quite obvious – the Declaration of Independence demanded 23 days for its creation, the Articles of Confederation 16 months! The Declaration lacked the force of statutory law, the Articles of Confederation became the law of the land.

In the strictest legal sense, the vote for independence was an act of separation, not one of political union. From a traditional mundane perspective, the act of declaring independence form another political power is not viewed as the birth of a nation. Nicholas Campion, noted mundane astrologer, author, historian and political scientist, addresses the issue of independence horoscopes head-on: “The attaining of independence by a state is therefore not a magical point at which it comes into existence . . . but a point at which power shifts irrevocably from the old to the new order . . . Many national horoscopes are set for the moment at which states achieve their independence from a colonial master, yet it is entirely false to describe independence as marking the foundation or beginning the stage.”

POLITICS VS. HISTORY

Unjustly, the Confederational government has not been assigned a prominent role in our nation’s history. Instead, it has been treated as an instigator of the social chaos and economic depression after the Revolutionary War ended. Noted historian, Henry B. Parkes, wrote: “The gloomy portrayals of this period have been derived mainly from the propaganda of the group working for a stronger central government . . . in many ways the Confederation period was one of rapid progress.”

Who would think it appropriate to blame the Constitution of the United States for the 1930′s Depression, the Saving & Loan bailout of the 1990′s, or even the chaos created by gang violence in the streets? Today such outcries would seem ridiculous, and yet these are 20th century equivalents to the charges leveled against the Articles of Confederation by the Federalist party of the late 18th century.

Under the direction and control of the Confederational government of the United States soon became a success:

  1. The Revolutionary War was concluded with a major victory;
  2. an exceptionally favorable peace treaty was negotiated and vast, new territorial boundaries were secured;
  3. the central core of the United States government’s bureaucratic administration was established and developed;
  4. the first executive branch of the U. S. government was created when four major departments were set up;
  5. prosperity slowly returned despite the innumerable economic problems arising from the war;
  6. the territorial lands issue was permanently resolved by the Northwest Ordinance – the first of its kind in all of world history – insuring equality between the a newly admitted states and the original states;
  7. national citizenship was established: full-faith-and-credit across state lines, creditors from one state frequently sued in other states’ courts.

The Confederational government’s record was one of exceptional achievements, especially when considering that all these projects were implemented in just eight years! Typically, such acts become the foundation stones of nation; they are the fundamental reasons why the United States came into existence. Recorded history proves that the Articles of Confederation was not the do-nothing government some 19th century historians liked to portray. Although imperfect, it was a solid, credible government; otherwise it would never have received the massive amounts of foreign aid it obtained from France. Andrew C. McLaughlin, a leading authority on American constitutional government, wrote about the articles of Confederation: “… They were in many respects models of what articles of confederation ought to he, an advance on previous instruments of like kind in the world’s history . . . as far as the mere division of powers was concerned, the Articles were not far from perfection…”

Despite the burdensome concerns of his private domestic life, Jefferson took part in the discussion which shaped the Articles of Confederation. On July 29, 1776 he wrote an urgent letter to his colleague from Virginia, Richard Henry Lee: “The minutiae of the Confederation have hitherto engaged us, the great points of representation, boundaries, taxation, etc., being left open. For God’s sake, for your country’s sake, and for my sake, come. I receive by every post such accounts of the state of Mrs. Jefferson’s health that it will be impossible for me to disappoint her expectation of seeing me at the time I have promised, which supposed my leaving this place on the 11th of next month . . . I pray you to come. I am under a sacred obligation to go home.”

Although committed to an August 11 departure, Jefferson stayed on more that another three weeks, until September 3. At this crucial time in his nation’s development, Jefferson’s commitment to the writing of the Articles of Confederation was uncompromised.

July Fourth ’76 romantics like to portray the Articles of Confederation as inadequate and, therefore, invalid as our nation’s founding document of state. It is historical irony of the highest order that the key witness testifying on behalf of the Articles of Confederation would be none other that the very author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson. He enthusiastically proclaimed that the confederation was the best government “existing or that ever did exist.” Jefferson compared it to the governments of Europe, noting that the contrast was the difference between “heaven and hell.” Although he ended up supporting the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Jefferson went on record as still preferring the Articles of Confederation! He viewed the Constitution as a substitute for America’s original founding government: “Indeed, I think all the good of this new Constitution might have been couched in three or four new articles, to be added to the good, old, and venerable fabric.”

THE FOUNDING GOVERNMENT IS OUR PRESENT GOVERNMENT

The U. S. Constitution is deeply rooted in the Articles of Confederation. Historian Max Farrand has pointed out that the “surprising thing, especially to one accustomed to condemn the Articles of Confederation, is to see how large a part of the powers vested in Congress were taken from the Articles of Confederation . . . it is not too much to say that the Articles of Confederation were at the basis of the new Constitution.”

The writings of James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, corroborate Farrand’s remarks. In all of American history, there is no one more qualified as an expert witness to write about the Articles’ impact upon the constitution than Madison himself: “If the new Constitution be examined with accuracy and candor, it will be found that the change which it proposes consists much less in the addition of NEW POWERS to the Union, than in the invigoration of its ORIGINAL POWERS. The powers relating to war and peace, armies and fleets, treaties and finance, with the other more considerable powers, are all vested in the existing Congress by the Articles of Confederation. The proposed change does not enlarge thee powers; it only substitutes a more effectual mode of administering them.”

Madison’s texts fully refute accusations from historians who content that the Constitutional Convention rejected the Articles of Confederation and redesigned a new government from the ground up. Furthermore, even the Preamble to the Constitution itself stated Madison’s view, boldly announcing to the world that the Constitution was an extension of an already pre-existing government: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…”

THE LEGAL U. S. BIRTH CERTIFICATE

The official ‘bottom line’ is reached when a major legality arises and an individual (person or nation) must produce proper identification. After the Revolutionary War, during negotiations at the Treaty of Paris, John Adams was challenged by Austrian and Russian mediators to allow separate negotiations between England and each of the thirteen states. Adams responded swiftly. He referred the ministers directly to the Articles of Confederation and the clauses surrendering the independence of the thirteen states as separate sovereignties. Adams then pointed to Articles which expressly delegated the U.S. Congress with the authority to negotiate with foreign nations. This incident established a clear precedent for international legal matters. When the time had come for the U.S. to show its legal ID – its birth certificate – the articles of Confederation and perpetual Union were produced, not the Declaration of Independence!

RATIFICATION IS NOT BIRTH

Contrary to the 19th century’s popular belief that the Articles of Confederation were not in force until officially and unanimously ratified in 1781, the Confederational government went into effect at the time of the Articles’ approval in 1777. Delegates to the Continental Congress had been freely chosen or elected directly as representatives of the people from their respective colonies. This was a case of grass-roots democracy in action. Consequently, the people entrusted their delegates with full legislative powers and specifically instructed them to establish a Union. Article XIII stated that the delegates were direct agents for the states and had given the powers of legal ratification themselves. This means that the act of approving the Articles of Confederation was, by itself, an unofficial ratification.

The Circular Letter from Congress, dated September 8, 1779, sets the record straight about the legal function of the Articles of Confederation after their adoption. Prepared by John Jay, president of the Confederational Congress, the letter informed the states that: “For every purpose essential to the defense of these states in the progress of the present war . . . the States now are as fully, legally, and absolutely confederated as it is possible for them to be.”

Distinguished constitutional scholar and eminent historian, Richard B. Morris comments: “This remark has peculiar relevance, because the Articles of Confederation had already lain on the calendar for a good two years and still lacked ratification by one state. Here was the president of Congress, acting on behalf of that body, declaring that such unanimous ratification was not necessary, a position supported in some part by the fact that the Articles were silent on the number of states needed for ratification.”

And if that weren’t enough evidence to prove a point, James Madison, future Father of the Constitution, responded to President Jay’s remarks with his full approval! With strong nationalistic tones, he noted “a sense of common permanent interest, mutual affection . . . and splendor of the union conspiring to form a strong chain of connection, which must forever bind us together.”

Several other facts point to a pre-1781 existence of a national government as well:

  1. Eleven of the thirteen colonies wrote their state constitutions prior to March 1781 and yet not one of them claimed powers of national sovereignty, i.e. military defense and foreign affairs.
  2. On February 6, 1778, less that three months after adoption of the articles, the Confederational government entered into two official treaties with France – a military and a commercial alliance. For centuries, the capacity of a government to enter into relations with other states and exercise its own foreign affairs internationally has been recognized as the add test of national sovereignty. To this day, it still remains a commonly accepted tenet of international law.
  3. The Confederational Congress began issuing international passports in 1778, another action that officially confirmed its status in the international community of nations.
  4. The pre-existence of the U.S. as a single, sovereign nation was France’s primary condition for economic and military aid. French foreign aid was being received by the U.S. already in 1778.
  5. Writing in 1779, James Madison stated that the Confederational government had long ago assumed the war debt. This could not have occurred if a national government did not exist until 1781. In that case, the states themselves would have been responsible for the majority of the Revolutionary War debt as it had been prescribed by the Declaration of Independence.

All these factors combined lead to the conclusion that government under the Articles of Confederation was alive and well from the moment of its inception on November 17, 1777.

Although imperfect and weaker than our present Constitution, the Articles of Confederation created a solid, credible government. The primary argument historians offer to discredit the Confederational government is its weak beginning. Boomerang logic, however, turns this contention against its promoters. New-borns are, by definition, inherently weak. Can you envision “proving” that an infant is unborn simply because it is weaker than an adult?

Imagine now, for just one moment, what our continent would be like had the Articles of Confederation not been approved. What is now the continental U.S. might have remained, even to this day, a vast conglomeration of separate countries not unlike Europe. Think about it. The Declaration of Independence is the document that headed America toward a collage of political and economic boundaries. It would have inspired a high level of competition and infighting that might have even paralleled Europe in the first half of this century. The Founding Fathers averted that course after spending one and a half years in and out of intense negotiations to forge a legal agreement acceptable to each of the individual states. That’s why November 15, 1777 is the key turning point in U.S. history. It is that moment when all the philosophical eloquence was put into action. It is that moment in history when the Founding Fathers walked their talk. As for the Declaration, historians freely admit it lacked the force of statutory law.

A KEY WITNESS

Our last contemporary witness is John Rogers, a personal consultant to General Washington during the Revolution: “Again, the formation and completion of that social compact among these States, which is usually stiled the Confederation, is another instance of the great things our God has done for us. This is that which gives us a national existence and character . . . By this event, the Thirteen United States . . . became ONE PEOPLE.”

NUMISMATIC BREAKTHROUGH

Money is the very lifeblood of a society, directly affecting every human transaction between citizens of a nation. It established a legal basis for the existence of a government and also provides an ever-present symbol of a national consciousness. As a consequence, its importance as historical evidence should not be overlooked. Referring back as early as Ancient Rome and the biblical times of Herod the Great, historians have utilized numismatic research as their best evidence in determining the accurate date of inception of a ruler’s reign Why shouldn’t this time-tested chronological instrument also be employed in historical research for the date of inception of the United States of America? The legal status of numismatic research is beyond reproach, and its mythical-symbolic representation of national consciousness remains unsurpassed.

The United Colonies - Thirty Dollars - July 22, 1776

The first emission of Continental Currency was put into circulation in August of 1775. It bore the date of the May 10, 1775 session of the Second Continental Congress. The title, THE UNITED COLONIES, was engraved in fancy script on the top and bottom borders of the various denominational notes. This established a systematic pattern that continued without exception – even after the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776!

The July 22, 1776 resolution of the Continental Congress authorized a new emission of currency. More than two weeks after voting for independence, the same Founding Fathers consciously avoided the title, THE UNITED STATES. One wonders “Did the Founding Fathers absent-mindedly forget to change the engraved cuts due to the hectic pace of business after the Fourth of July?”

The United Colonies - Three Dollars - February 26, 1777

Hardly! Instead, they actually took extra time to change the style of fancy script that inscribed THE UNITED COLONIES, reverting back to a style almost identical to that employed for the November 29, 1775 resolution. Then one wonders, “was there some sort of miscommunication between the Congress and the Currency printing office?” Apparently not The subsequent November 2, 1776 resolution continued usage of the inscription, THE UNITED COLONIES, and so did the February 26, 1777 resolution, and then the May 20, 1777 resolution as well. More than ten months and four resolutions after the Declaration of Independence was approved, the Founding Fathers stubbornly resisted changing the legal name of the colonies.

After the November 15, 1777 founding of our nation at York, Pennsylvania (Yorktown), a dramatic change occurred in our currency. On April 11, 1778, for the first time in America history, the title THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was engraved on the top and bottom borders. All semblances of the original titles had completely vanished! This was the first currency resolution to be passed by Congress since the founding on November 15, 1777. Because Congress was still located at the site of the nation’s founding when the resolution was authorized, this emission was known as the Yorktown issue.

All currency resolutions from April 11, 1778 and after bear THE UNITED STATES title engraving without exception. These include both the resolutions of September 26, 1778 and January 14, 1779. The 1779 resolution added North America to the title, becoming THE UNITED STATES OF NORTH AMERICA.

CONCLUSION: As you can well imagine, there are a lot of philosophical arguments that can be offered to avoid the truth about our nation’s birth date. However, one piece of evidence which Declaration proponents cannot avoid is numismatic evidence. It leaves July Fourth advocates, both astrologers and historians, with a lot of explaining to do. If the Founding Fathers truly believed they were founding the United States of America when they declared independence, they would have appropriately removed the old title, THE UNITED COLONIES, and replaced it with THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

THE ASTROLOGICAL PSYCHE

“The eagle typified the sun in its material phase and also the immutable Demiurgic law beneath which all mortal creatures must bend. The eagle was also the hermetic symbol of sulphur and signified the mysterious fire of Scorpio . . . the signature of the Mysteries may still be seen on the Great Seal of the United States of America . . . the American eagle upon the Great Seal is but a conventionalized phoenix . . .”

The symbols of a nation are direct reflections of its archetypal myth. The more we contemplate this myth, the more we are able to understand the national psyche itself. As a symbol, the Eagle has dominated the American psyche from its earliest years. With its selection for the Great Seal in 1782, the Eagle was officially recognized as the national archetype. Defined in the simplest of terms, one can say that an archetype is “a universal image or idea affecting billions of people over centuries of time.”

The landing of a man on the moon was one of the United States’ greatest achievements. The Scorpionic symbology of the feat was verified by Neil Armstrong when be announced to the entire world: “The Eagle has landed.” A billion people listened to those first words from the moon, words etched in the mind of the human race for future aeons. Across the deep, infinite void of outer space, the word “eagle,” the national archetype of the United States of America, had been transmitted to the far corners of the Universe.

The astrological heritage of America is very real. The entire identity of our nation and government is permeated by Scorpio’s symbology. As a people, we are in contact with it and reminded of its significance daily. The Eagle’s symbol has been minted on billions of coins and engraved on trillions of one dollar hills. The Star-Spangled Banner depicts our nation at war with airborne rockets and “bombs bursting in air,” leading to an eventual victory of the forces of light over darkness. Through its words and melody, our national anthem represents the Scorpionic struggle for existence at its fullest, most dramatic expression. In our schools, we still remember the ultimatum voiced by Patrick Henry – “Give me liberty or give me death” – as one of the most fundamental expressions of the national psyche. The final words of Nathan Hale – “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country” – reinforce that example. National and state elections are the very heart of our democracy and the freedom it bestows, and they occur during Scorpio’s annual cycle.

From the historical perspective developed earlier, the United States’ date of birth has already been determined as November 15, 1777, however, the exact time of day is not provided in any of the records. Nevertheless, there are sufficient clues. Pages 395 and 401 of the Journals of Congress, Vol. III., point to sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. By turning to rectification procedures to fine tune, 12:46 p.m. LMT surfaced as the indicated time of the Articles of Confederation’s approval. America's Natal Chart

Traditional astrology profiles the Scorpio personality as one based on power and self-control. These qualities in turn create a character that is intense, strong-willed, secretive, courageous and passionate. More than any other sign, Scorpio has the potential to destroy and regenerate, to resent or forgive, to rise to spiritual heights or self-destruct. An inner sense of moral truth and self-honesty is the key to unlock the Scorpio personality.

Andrew Shapiro’s book, We’re Number One (New York, 1992) stands as a clear indictment of the July 4, 1776 Cancer chart. His hard facts provide irrefutable evidence that America’s children are the most neglected in the developed world. IN FACT, EVERY CANCERIAN CHARACTER TRAIT TYPICALLY ASSIGNED TO THE UNITED STATES TOTALLY FAILS WHEN COMPARED TO HIS STATISTICAL RESEARCH – WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Those areas in which the Cancerian chart should excel are the very ones which cast it to the bottom of the data heap. Shapiro utilized the most reliable statistical data available from the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Health Organization, the World Values Survey and similar sources dated from the late 80′s through 1991.

Among the nineteen major industrial nations of the world the United States is Number One in homelessness, Number One in children living in poverty, Number One in the murder of children, Number One in infant mortality, Number One in infants born at low birth weight, Number One in not offering paid maternity leave, Number One in abortions, Number One in preschoolers not immunized by vaccination, Number One in single-parent families, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’re also Number one in:

  • percentage of population without health insurance
  • death of children younger than five
  • death due to breast cancer
  • reported rapes
  • junk food consumption

The plot. thickens as we turn to categories where America finishes
last:

  • teacher’s salaries
  • spending on the poor, aged and disabled
  • humanitarian aid to developing countries
  • paid vacation days (time with family)

Although Cancers are known to hold on to their money, America is last in investing and saving. America doesn’t even hold on to things around the house – we’re Number One in garbage per capita. Far from being the Cancerian caretakers of the world and the environment, the U.S. is Number One in hazardous waste per capita, Number one in greenhouse gas emissions, acid rain, air pollutants, and forest depletion. If ever a nation existed with four of its seven traditional planets in Cancer, America is NOT it!

Instead, it’s a tough cruel Scorpionic world out there. The U.S. is Number One in:

  • AIDS
  • murder
  • gun ownership
  • deaths by gun
  • murderers still at large
  • percentage of population willing to fight for their country
  • defense spending
  • R&D funds devoted to defense
  • military aid to developing countries
  • percentage of populations who have been crime victims
  • incarceration
  • drug offenders per capita
  • drunk driving fatalities
  • robbers and thieves per capita
  • cancer among men
  • coronary bypass operations
  • divorce
  • real national wealth
  • unequal wealth distribution
  • executive salaries
  • inequality of pay
  • billionaires
  • bankers
  • credit cards
  • ATM machines
  • bank failures and bailouts
  • budget deficit
  • foreign debt
  • Fortune 500 international companies that lose money
  • lawyers
  • litigation
  • nuclear reactors shut down, suspended and canceled
  • nuclear reactors in operation

This statistically derived profile of America points to one fact – the United States is a SCORPIOPATH, i.e. a nation trapped within its own obsessions, addicted to secrecy, money, sex, weapons, power, gambling, religion, entertainment, drugs and denial!!
